Recommends it for: people who have eyes that see
You know what I got last week? That's right, my very own copy of this masterpiece of a book. To start with, biology (especially zoology) is one of my favorite topics to read about, so I was predisposed to enjoy the content. I was flipping through Pinterest and looking for works of Charley Harper; the illustrator who has become extremely popular in recent years, and saw the cover for this book, and BAM! That was one of the books that set me on the path of a life long love of the natural world. I remember how unconventional the illustrations were, and even a bit intense as well (another reviewer here mentioned the Piranha page, and that still freaks me out!) In my memory, this book had no text. The words were completely overshadowed by the power of Harper's illustrations, which are beautiful, striking, and sometimes scary. This book freaked me out as a kid (particularly the piranha page), but I loved it anyway, and still do.
