«Beltenebros», narrada en primera persona por el personaje principal, nos sumerge en el mundo del espionaje y de los bajos fondos, en la trastienda de las ciudades y en los ambientes nocturnos de un Madrid localizable en los años 60. La construcción de su trama se muestra como verdadero artífice de un estilo y de un modo de escribir, es el anzuelo que atrapa al lector.
“Vine a Madrid para matar a un hombre a quien no había visto nunca” es el cortante incipit de esa novela. Estilo cinematográfico

A secret agent goes on a mission to murder a defector. Along the way he meets people, familiar from earlier encounters. Many monologues interieurs. The doubt whether he does the right thing by fulfilling his assignment, grows, and those are catalysed by memories, especially when it seems he will a sort of reanact a mission he undertook long ago.
This is pretty abstract, trying not to give away to much of what's going on. The reader has to discover the meaning of many facts and the role of several

Shelves: school-lit, spanish
Incredible detective fiction novel. Story involves pre-Civil War, Civil War, and post-Civil War in Spain. The past comes back in a big way. Reminded me of watching Apocalypse Now when Martin Sheen is hanging out with Marlon Brando because it created a claustrophobic feeling.
