I love Shelly Laurenston's book :)
Her first series "Magnus Pack" get me hooked to her books, and I decided to read her "Pride" series after I finish Magnus Pack.Even the world setting in Pride and Magnus Pack series are the same, no need to read Magnus Pack first :)

Wow, I still can't believe how good this book was, not paranormal romance but more erotica, but still I really liked it because the paranormal aspect was incredibly well developed. This story had an amazing plot and a great enemy, which I never realized who it was until the end. We get to know some amazing characters with great personalities, so be ready because once you read the first book you WILL need to read the rest.

I'm just now rereading the Laurenston books and had forgotten how fantastic this series is. This book is two novellas in one book, and it's very good. I haven't stopped laughing--especially during the second story (Brendon & Ronnie). The first book in Pride Stories, I like this series better than her earlier Magnus Pack books--mainly because I like the female leads better. Laurenston does a great job depicting shapeshifter life and pack structures, as well as with character development. Her...more

3 good stars, not the I don’t know how to rate it 3 stars. Because it was a fun book. Funny, sexy fluff with lots and lots of fun sex and lovable characters. Books of this genre are in danger of trying too much. Consequently lose the genuineness that is so important in order to enjoy the book without it giving you heartburn. To me, Shelly Laurenston found the right amount and I was left feeling quite delighted.

I know I see other people's reviews all the time saying they expected to like a book based on its reviews, then were horribly disappointed. But honestly, that hardly ever happens to me. A playful escape with a lot of hot sex scenes, but don’t expect much in the way of plot, relationship development, and romance.

I can honestly say that Shelly Laurenston has taken that whole animal/human hybrid thing to a new level. Lora Leigh at least portrays this mix as a human manipulated genetic testing thing, but Shelly Laurenston just puts it out there as fact. The different animal groups just are. These Pride/Pack books by Shelly Laurenston are more like novellas than full length novels, and lack any real storyline, which I know sounds really bad, BUT, what they lack in storyline they make up for by having some of the funniest, most likable characters and great one-liners, and are really easy to read.
I've also read the three Magnus pack novels by this author and they are much the same style.

This was the first book in the pride series and I enjoyed it. This is really more of a 3.5 stars instead of a 3 star book. The two stories were connected and I liked following the multiple characters.

Some books have plot and then some hot sex scenes. This book had lots of sex scenes, but very little plot. The Mane Event consist of two stories - the first one was so horrible that I almost didn't read the second one. The second story was better, as there were a bit more interaction (that didn't include sex) between the two main characters.

How did I not realize that this author is FANTASTIC?! I'm on the PNR discussion group all the time - why doesn't anyone rave about Shelly Laurenston? If you love paranormal romance, this one should be moved to the top of your to-read pile. In The Main Event we are introduced to the Lions, tigers and bears of New York and man are they funny. I imagine these are the types of adventures Stephanie and I would have had if she was attracted to a Were Lion and I was a werewolves. But alas we are merely vampires.
