The Glamorous Life
by
Nikki Turner
The lure of Richmond, VA’s streets is too strong for Bambi, a good girl from the right side of the tracks, who fell in love with, Reggie, a young hustler. Her thug love not only corrupted her but blinded her with the bling and cash that come with living the glamorous life of a gangsta’s girl–until Reggie hit her with a low blow, crumbling her heart. From that day forward,...more

I think I'd much rather give this four and a half stars than four but I have to stop just shy from "amazing". I do think this was a great Turner book and I wasn't disappointed at all. I loved how she included some characters that I've read in other books although this book probably came first, not sure.
Bambi was an AWESOME main character and it's not too often I'd go out of my way to say that. I fell in love with her from the start. She was built perfectly in my opinion.

In the jungle we hear this tale again, and again. Bambi Ferguson from Virginia's capital city is quickly mesmerized by all of the excitement in the streets. Pivoting hard while living the fast life it's love at first sight. Can you believe that even after two years she still gets chills up her spine from hearing her Boo talk? That's how you know it's love! I wonder how many chills she's getting as the surprise of happiness ever after has somberly come to a squealing close....more

The book started off pretty good but there were a couple of things that made me think a little. Overall the book was pretty good. It had a slow moment but I was determined to finish reading it to see what happens. I am not sure I would read part 2 if it ever came out. There's really not much more to add on to it.

This book got me hooked on Ms. Turner and I don't necessarily read a lot of street literature but I got into her other work from this one book

This was a pretty quick read with an ending that has SEQUEL written right in to it !!! Such a cliff hanger...
From the page one it a page turner. Nikki really out did herself this time with this one. I like the Hustler Wife but this one I loved. All the character was jumping out at you. It was like you was there. I hate giving a summary of the book. So let me just put it like this. You want be disappoint because your money will be very well spent

After Nikki Turner read The Coldest Winter Ever by Sistah Souljah she was dismayed that there weren't other books like it. "I wanted to write the kinds of books I wanted to read," said the bestselling author, whose 2002 debut novel, A Hustler's Wife, would go on to sell more than a few 100,000 copies.
