Ann Macela is a writer I 'discovered' by accident while browsing in a bookstore. Now I haunt her publisher's site, looking for the date of her next release. "Your Magic or Mine?" is book three in her contemporary 'Magic' series. These stories are a delightful read with humor and passion and bits of light mystery set in a world where magic practitioners exist side-by-side with unknowing non-magical humans. At heart in each story is the concept of the 'soulmate phenomenon', a magical imperative ...more

A world where magic is debated and studied on instead of being kept as a secret. Gloriana and Markus are both experts in magic and are in a debate against each other about how magic can be used and how to learn how to bring ancient magic into the near future. One says, spell casting is an art and can only be learned trough experience while the other is saying that there is a mathematical formula anyone can follow to do a perfect spell. Both sides refuse to back down and the two sides begin to ...more

I definately enjoyed this book. The magic world and the character's posessed some unique aspects and skills that kept me interested. I also enjoyed the ratio of plot to romance. Other stories I have read that have a similar element to the 'soul-mate' phenomenon rely too heavily on that element to fill pages. I need more to my 325 pages than sexual tension! This was a slower read than some and I can see that putting some people off. The only thing that kept me from giving the book 4 stars was the ...more
Paranormal Romance
The hero and the heroine are both professors but each stand of opposite sides of the great debate as whether magical ability is scientific or something mystical coming from the earth. Together, at the urges of their publicists, they go on tour doing lectures and holding live debates. The heroine is very hippy, the hero very by the book logical but both had the personalities of flypaper. Sooooo boring. Yes, each were passionate about their opinion and eager to challenge the other in hopes of ...more

Your Magic or Mine? is the third in Ann Macela’s magic series. Daria and Clay found their soul mates in the first two books. Gloriana is the focus of the third book. In this book, the magical community is gearing up for a series of debates about a controversial new formula that Marcus Forscher has created...

Would have been better if it had been 100-200 pages shorter. There wasn’t anything horribly wrong with the extra, but it was very padded, and weakened the story overall. Similarly, the motivations of Marcus were questionable for the way he was defined, and his approach to maintaining his stance also didn’t fit his definition as used in any of the other aspects of the story.Even so, it was enjoyable for what it was.

It has been awhile since I've read it but I really enjoyed this, especially the differences of opinion about how magic should be used between the hero and heroine. I also liked that they both had the same breed of dog and that those dogs were important to them. Not many books out there that include a pet's importance to the book.

A very lively romance about two "Practitioners" of magic who butt heads on what is the right way to cast spells...one modern, one traditional...and how they belong together....but will love overcome stubborness...I'm betting YES!

I have been blessed with a number of careers: public school and university teacher (three degrees in history); writer of history (the kind bristling with footnotes); sales, marketing and PR person writing everything from ads to annual reports; consultant and computer manual writer; and now romance author. A native Texan, I spent most of my life on the Gulf Coast until my husband’s and my business ...more
