Set in the South West of France, for the most part, in a period of history I find fascinating: the occupation of France by the Germans during the second world war.

Le Macquis, les colabos, les Resistants etc... and the immediate aftermath.

A large property in the hills serves as temporary refuge for those escaping the Nazis, in the year leading up to the Liberation.

Un mots seulement: ennui. Mais juste beaucoup beaucoup beaucoup ennui. “Le petit garçon” du Labro semble né de l’union entre “Le garçon dans la pgiama rayé” et “Le plaisir”. Pendant la lecture se succèdent en fait descriptions lentes et redondants et dialogues au pensées de naïveté embarrassante.

Le protagoniste est ce petit garçon (l’auteur même, parce que “Le petit garçon” est un roman autobiographique) que habite dans une maison appelle “la Villa”, où beaucoup du juifs vont trouver un refuge.

This book was so beautifully written, even in the English translation! I am so impressed with this author's evocative story of life in France during WWII. Great book!
