What a wonderful book that explains the doctrines surrounding exaltation. Alonzo L. Gaskill, helps to simplify the doctrines and help us to realize that most of us are on the right path, we listen to the Holy Ghost as we sojourn in this life, and we will live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ once again.

My disclosure is that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and this author writes from that prospective. That said, this work will clarify the mission of Jesus for anyone who wants a better understanding of the atonement and what it means for every individual ever born or will be born on earth. A greater insight into what our Creator wants for us and how we assure our salvation is explained succinctly. The generally unanswered questions about the salvation of unbapti

At first I thought the title of this book was a little on the prideful (and apostate) side. But I gave the book a try and was interested in his arguments. The subtitle: Evidence that the Plan of Salvation Works, is more of the direction the book takes. It doesn't leave out in the least our part in achieving the blessings our Heavenly Father has for us. It points out the many wars and deaths that have occurred where so many children have died and already gained their eternal exaltation. I thought

I really liked this book. I would recommend this book to everyone, especially any members of the church. My dad had this laying around in his office at home and I borrowed it. He had already read it and marked all over in it, which I liked.
It is written by a BYU professor but it is not published by the church. Although he quotes scriptures and conference talks and other church leaders through out the book.

My Father in law brought this book when he came to visit and before giving it to us to read, asked us if we thought we were going to make it to the Celestial Kingdom. My husband and I were hesitant to answer. We live a good life, have been through the temple, but we felt to say yes was something we couldn't really do as it was too cocky or prideful.
We aren't alone in that within the church. This is the reason BYU Professor Alonzo Gaskill wrote the book, to show us that we have a More...

Aside from the scary-run-you-off title, this book was absolutely amazing. A message of true hope for yourself and family. The author lays out truths found in the scriptures and messages from modern day prophets that testify that God is a "successful parent" who is a PERFECT God with a PERFECT plan. So why then would he not make it possible for the majority of His children to return and share his glory? It is called the, "Plan of Happiness" after all. The book will only tak

What makes this book work is the scholarly approach to the message. All of the claims in the book are backed up with references to prophets, scriptures and historians. It is "one side of the coin" as noted by the author but it the side most often overlooked in my opinion. The message of this book is that God's plan is a plan that maximizes returns, it is designed to fulfil His purpose which is oiur exatlation. Between satan and God, when it comes to who will gain more souls, God wil

Contrary to others' reviews, it is not a quick read. It is deep, but simple. Lots of quotes, great notes on the chapters. I don't love the title, but admit it catches attention. Beautiful clarification of principles that get skimmed over, sometimes. (ie. sanctification, why having the Holy Ghost constantly with us is so important) The Plan of Salvation works. Heavenly Father loves ALL of His children. Jesus Christ's atonement works. We accepted this more-than-generous plan in the preexis

This was worth reading and I'm glad I did! The first couple of chapters were not very thought-provoking, and left me feeling a little unlucky... I appreciated the logic and connections made throughout the remainder of the book though. This theme was my favorite and makes so much sense, that if no unclean thing can enter His presence and we know that the Holy Ghost can only influence us when we are clean and sincerely repentant, then "...it seems one of the easiest ways to know your standin

What a wonderfully comforting and enlightening book! Bro. Alonzo Gaskill builds on work done in the same vein by authors such as Robert Millett and Stephen Robinson, highlighting the love God has for us that overcomes all. There is too much of value in Bro. Gaskill's thoughts to convey entirely here, but let me summarize a few thoughts that really stood out for me.

Brother Gaskill was my Book of Mormon teacher at BYU, and his positive attitude shines through in this book. Here is a quotation summary of his book:
Brigham Young (page xv): "You can put into a gnat's eye all the souls of the children of men that are driven into heaven by preaching hell-fire."
Page 19: "All too often we assume that only a small, select few will return to the Father's presence...Yes, only the select will have the honor and privilege of so do More...

I liked the perspective of this book. I tend to dwell on the hell and damnation side WAY too much. I also think that it meant something much more significant because now that I am a parent you can understand God's love for His children. This book is an excellent choice for anyone looking to gain a greater perspective of the atonement in their life. It's not just a touchy-feely, grace will save you anyway kind of book--it has some significant insight into the perfectness of the plan of salvation.

This book spreads a much-needed (I am assuming from reading other reviews)message of hope. The suggestions that God would formulate a "test" that most would fail or that He doesn't possess the power or grace to save most of his children are solidly put to rest. I had difficulty with the poor editing and a couple of glaring contradictions in the book.

Excellent read. If you're looking for the answer to the question, "Why do I try so hard when others seem to be doing a little less and getting by just fine?" This book has the answer. LDS author, professor, and speaker conversationally guides you to the hope of what we all hope for--happiness in the hereafter and exaltation.

This book just screams "Hope". For every Saint who's ever had a Gospel Doctrine teacher fix the entire class with a baleful gaze while intoning "There were five foolish virgins and five wise virgins, so HALF of you are NOT going to make it to the Celestial Kingdom (pause for dramatic effect) WHICH ONES OF YOU AREN'T GOING TO MAKE IT?" there is this beautiful hope-filled counter-argument that the Plan of Salvation (NOT the Plan of Misery and Despair--loved that note!) really

I loved this book, but really, really, really don't like the title! How about dropping the first part and keeping "Evidence that the Plan of Salvation Works"??? Solid gospel doctrine, documented by scripture and modern day revelation. The "notes" sections was as good as the book.

The title of this book makes me laugh. I found the first two chapters the most interesting as far as new insights. The rest of the book was fine, but seemed kind of like a re-hash of Believing Christ and other books about the atonement, without any new insights.

This book was one of many of the experiences I have had in the last six or so months that have led me to more fully accept my mortality and the Atonement of Jesus Christ. I highly recommend this quick but thought-provoking book.

It's easy enough to read. It's really positive, so if you are critical or down, this is good. There are a lot of scriptures, but also he has a lot of his own opinions - a few which I felt uncomfortable with.

An amazing reminder that God is a perfect father and that His plan WILL succeed even though we are imperfect children. Filled with hope and written in an easy, conversational tone. Great book.

This book is very inspiring and gives a lot of comfort. It lets us know just how loving our Heavenly Father really is and if we just try to do what is right and follow the commandments we will be exalted.

All of the principles in this book came straight from General Authorities and Prophets, mostly Bruce R. McConkie. A lot of it was basic stuff, but I loved the chapter on wayward children and on the tree of life. It may seem embarassing sometimes, but I think its important to understand that if we are righteous, and striving to do what we should, we have a good chance of living with our Heavenly Father again. I think there is a big misconception in the church that not a lot of people will end

I've recommended this to everyone and will continue to do so. This is inspiring and uplifting and gives hope to those of us to fail at being PERFECT!

It certainly sparked me thinking in a new way - raised a bunch of questions, but also balanced out a lot of the guilt a lot of us heap upon ourselves. . .

This book was a lot like a talk I saw him give about a month ago, though not as funny. He was hilarious in person. But the book is such good stuff!

Very thought provoking. I took me a while to read. It wasn't a book I was just waiting to read but very good.
