This rhyming picture book can be used like a non-fiction book. While only a few of the fish are named in the story the striped fish and the spikey fish along with all the others, are real fish. The pages following the story show a small version of the illustration, the fish name, an additional sentence about it and where it can be found in the world. If one checks the title page even the fish on the end pages are named. The children will probably recognize and be able to name a few of the fish b ...more

This nonfiction picture book features beautifully layered color illustrations of nearly 30 fishes. Each page features a single fish with just a few words. The rhyming phrases are the glue that holds the anatomically, vibrantly true to life illustrations together.

I recently heard Stockdale speak at the American Library Association Conference and was impressed by her dedication to research and accuracy when creating her nonfiction books. Back matter includes thumbnails of each illustration with th

This book was both educational and colorful. Perfect for Young children. It was also catchy because it rhymed, so that will help children that read it learn about the different kinds of fish. It also helped show the depths of the ocean and where the fish live.

Great book about an assortment of fish. Fun rhyming pattern. Colorful pictures and details. Also includes a glossary of all sorts of fish in the back. Very short and easy to read. It would be great for a lesson on fish with the younger grade level kids.
A rhythmic, jazzy read telling about the fish and other creatures of the sea. The end tells about all the different sea creatures shown in the book in more depth than the story itself, so older and younger kids can access the content.

I think this is a good book for younger children when discussing sea animals. this book did a good job in illustrating and talking about the fish. I really think children will enjoy this book.
Got a fish lover in the house? This non-fiction text detailing various types of fish is full of beautiful, striking illustrations! Great text to delve into what's bustling under the sea.

This book was amazing. I liked the illustrations, they were gorgeous! I liked that they pictures showed where the fish lived instead of just a picture of a fish. This book was great!!
Simple, rhyming. The pictures are nice, but this book isn't spectacular (as compared with a Steve Jenkins book). My two year old seemed to like it.
