This is actually the third book in the series. I have not read the first two but When the Wind Blows (of which this series was based on,) is one of my favourite books by James Patterson.

When I heard that Patterson had written a children's novel I was surprised. Knowing what his adult books are like, I couldn't imagine how he could write for children without being to scary. I find his writing style completely different in this book, it is hard for me to think of the books as having the same a...more

All the Erasers have been terminated and replaced by robotic flying erasers, or Flyboys. The Flyboys capture everyone except Max and Fang who are trying to find a place to live peacefully away from Itex, while searching Max remembered that they were near Ella's house. Max decides that she would get the microchip in her arm out with the help of vet, Doctor Martinez. When Fang and Max are far away from the Flock, they sit by the fire and Fang listens to Max worry about the future. Fang helps Max to...more

In this third installment in the Maximum Ride series, the frantic pace continues as Max and her flock race to save the world. Except they don't exactly agree on HOW to save the world. While Max has always been the leader, Fang is not as ready to blindly follow her lead. As the kids race to find the head of an evil plot to kill half of humanity, theirs as much tension inside the flock as there is outside it.

This book started out strong and like the others is characterized by lots of action, f...more

Like the first two books in the series, this is pure escapist reading from James Patterson. Our heroine (the epynonomus, Max Ride) is back with her flock, to find their families, escape the Erasers, find out what the mad scientists are up to, and...more

Max and the flock are back. While she continues to keep the flock safe, she also has to figure out how she is supposed to save the world. The evil plan is days away from unfolding. Half of the people in the world are going to be killed in order to give the worthy ones that remain a chance to thrive. The human race has done such a poor job of taking care of the planet that the Itex Corporation decided only the people with something to offer deserve the right to live in it.

I find one of the great benefits of teaching is being able to buy/read ya lit without having to justify to myself its literary merit (I'm buying it for my classroom library; I'm reading it for research). Much of the YA Lit that I read though, is, in fact, well written, intelligent, thought-provoking pieces of literature. The Maximum Ride series was certainly never that. While I enjoyed the first two Maximum Ride books (The Angel Experiment and School's Out Forever)...more

Read in one day my sophomore year. I read somewhat quickly because I really wanted to know what happened, its plot is amazing. Understandably many questions were left to the next book in the series, (or I didn't pick up on them...) but I would've liked maybe a little more answers. Unlike the 1st books, I noticed that it could be considered somewhat (very little) anti-war, and had some ideas similar to All Quiet on the Western Front. A bit of a stretch, but in both books killing is trained/pro...more

I'm not sure if James Patterson had a time crunch for writing this book, but it was trash. There were so many improbabilities, pointless scenes, inconsistencies, and it was boring.

While reading "Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports", I had some major "Yeah, right" moments. Max loses the use of one of her arms, then suddenly gets it back? Angel is now powerful enough to hypnotize a crowd? I don't think so!

About that fight with Omega Boy...Max is super strong. S...more

The Maximum Ride series has been one of my favorite series for a while now, though I am still in the process of collecting it, and I would highly recommend it.

Saving the World and Other Extreme Sports is the third in the Maximum Ride series. If you're new to this series, it is about winged kids and genetic experiments. There's drama, action, and even some romance; a little bit of something for everyone.

It's hard to say which of the three so far was the best; they're all fantastic. Also, ...more

The third installment in the Maximum Ride stories which give us the adventures of a group of kids who are part avian and have escaped from the lab where they were created. The cool part - they can fly. The problem - the company who created them wants them back/destroyed. Max is the leader of this group of bird kids. The best part of this third book was Max's quick and quirky comebacks. Her verbal sparring with the bad guys is more entertaining than the fight scenes although those are also c...more

This book is the third of a series that starts with Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment. It's a sci-fi adventure starring Maximum: a human/bird hybrid fresh out of the science lab and ready for action. Although the main character is a girl, this book is unusual in that most boys will love it anyway. Maximum is tough, muscular, and violent-- therefore eliminating any silly gender insecurities that a teenage boy may feel while reading a book about a girl.

Patterson keeps the pace of this seri...more

Third book in the Maximum Ride series.

Max and the flock are back. They will finally discover their true enemy and uncover a plot to take over the world. The Re-Evolution plan, aka the By-Half Plan, involves reducing the population by half--only those deemed "useful" will be allowed to live in the new world. Even as Max races to save the world from the mad scientists, she never takes herself too seriously. My favorite thing about Max is her sarcasm. As in her internal conversat...more

I just loved James Patterson's Murder Club Series so my sister suggested I try the Maximum Ride series. Another great series from Mr. Patterson. I just love what an indepented, sarcastic girl Max is!

The time has arrived for Max and her winged "flock" to face their ultimate enemy and discover their original purpose: to defeat the takeover of "Re-evolution", a sinister experiment to re-engineer a select population into a scientifically superior master race...and to terminat...more

I think if I had been 12 years old I may have enjoyed this one more...I still liked the characters, but I feel like I've read three books without a resolution. I realize that even in a trilogy the author has to leave you hanging, but in this one there wasn't even a minor triumph to finish each book. In that regard, it felt like it dragged on and on. The main charcter's attitude is also getting just a tad bit annoying. Also, the bird-kids keep talking about how the adults of this world are so...more

I loved this one. It was similar to the other ones but I personally think that the way she and Fang developed a crush on eachother was really random. It was something I totally didn't expect, but it also added a lot to the story. I have to say this was probably my favorite one so far. I like the way in this one that Max and Fang split the flock and then discover that no matter what they think or thought that the whole flock really needs to be together. And that they need to be together too. Yeah...more

This book was shorter than the preceding books in its series - at least, it felt like it was! - and I did not enjoy the storyline as much as I did for the preceding books. Nevertheless, it was an amazing read. There was some frustrating romance, I do wish that the main characters would just get together, because it's so obvious that they're perfect for each other! That's just my opinon, however, on the romance, because the rest of the story was pretty interesting, can't complain too much.
