Shelves: biography, politics
Written in the present tense, it reads, rather irritatingly, as a novel and there are a few grammatical problems that need resolving.

Good introduction to Engles, very easy to read and needs to be read in conjunction with some of his more technical writings, along with Marx.

Recommends it for: anyone interested in biography and/or politics
After Francis Wheen's popular biography of Marx it was about time that his long-time over-shadowed friend and collaborator, Friedrich Engels, was given similar treatment. This book will be primarily interesting to those already excited by the theoretical and intellectual legacy left by Marx and Engels. As a narrative it is decently well written, and gives a good sense of the man based on extensive research and reading of Engels' archive of writings and letters.
