Short stories based around the dominion war. Spock is on Romulus, Scotty gets stuck at a neutral outpost, and the Breen attack earth among others. There is some really good stories here, and surprisingly it does include every star trek series. I particularly liked the Spock one, and the New Frontier one. But all were very well written, character based and engaging. A very good read.

A terrific collection of short stories by some of the best writers in the genre. A Romulan spy on DS9 has to choose between continuing to pose as a Vulcan and finding a cure to a deadly plague. Admiral Bones and Captain Scotty have an adventure seeking safe harbor from Dominion forces, traveling alone in an aging shuttle. Cardassians, Klingons, Changelings, Jem'Hadar, and dozens of unique perspectives on the Dominion War are presented here for adventure, amusement, and ultimately a deeper unders ...more

Stone Cold Truths by Peter David, a short story in the Star Trek: Tales of the Dominion War anthology is the 29th--and perhaps final--chapter of the Star Trek: The New Frontier series. I primarily bought the book for the NF story, but as I love all things Deep Space 9, I will eventually come back to this book. The story takes place some time years and years after Lt Kebron has retired from Starfleet and decided to start a family. He recounts a story from the USS Excalibur's experiences in the Do ...more

It took me forever to finish this book, probably almost a year but that should in no one be a testament to the quality of this piece.

This collection of short stories is probably one of my favorite Trek books I have ever read. Not only because it finally covers what I have been wishing for since watching the last few seasons of Deep Space Nine, namely an explanation of what every other crew and character we love was doing during the war. It's also so ridiculously well-written by the masters of S

Basically, this was a collection of short stories that filled in some of the blanks during the Dominion War, which we saw from a totally DS9 point of view. Some of the various stories were quite good, some not-so-much (always the case with short story collections), and, to be honest, a whole lot of these filled in gaps which were already known (ie: the attack on Betazed story was good, but we already knew everything that had happened - we merely got to read it in detail). I would have been happi ...more

Tales of the Dominion War is an excellent concept marred by spotty execution. Some of the stories, such as "The Ceremony of Innocence Is Drowned" by Keith R.A. DeCandido (who also serves as editor), are very well written and fill in gaps in the overall television series storyline (in this particular case, the invasion of Betazed). Others, such as "Eleven Hours Out" by Dave Galanter take a good idea (the Breen sneak attack on Earth and the Enterprise's role in the war) and ruin it with truly horr ...more

Recommends it for: Star Trek fans of every series, TV or book-only
For those who aren't clear from the book's description, almost all of the short stories in this book take place during the Dominion War. There is one story that has a frame that takes place many years later.

With few exceptions, I enjoyed these stories, even for the series I wasn't familiar with -- New Frontiers and the S.C.E. e-books. I think there's something here for Trek fans of almost any or every flavor. In particular, if you're a DS9 fan who was not put off by the longer story-arcs of the

This collection of short stories details events that occurred behind the scenes of the Dominion War as it was chronicled during the last two seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Characters from every Star Tek series except Voyager make an appearance, as do original characters from various Star Trek novels. Overall, it’s a welcome addition to the Star Trek universe. Stories that stand out are Blood Sacrifice, Mirror Eyes, and Twilight’s Wrath. Also included is a timeline by editor Keith R. A. D ...more

Pretty good collections of short stories that give the reader glimpses of what else was going on during the Dominion War, other than what we saw on TV. Interestingly, it includes a lot of novels as part of the Star Trek canon. Guess I'm just not used to that idea, but not opposed, as there is some damn fine writing there.

If you want to get all nostalgic about DS9 and 'the good old days' of Trek,I recommend it.

A collection of stories from the Dominion War which dominated later seasons of DS9 but the other parts of the Star Trek universe are mainly featured here, answering the question many had... what was the likes of Picard doing during the war. None of the stories were poor, some were better than others but the obverall standard was very high.

Many of my Trek authors take on odd bits and little known pieces of the Dominion War. I am re-watching DS9 so this was appealing. I really liked a few. Liked some and was meh on others. Funny that I haven't read a Trek book in years but I could still pick out the styles of some of my old favorites.

Two wonderfully entertaining stories: Blood Sacrifice by Sherman & Shwartz and Mirror Eyes by Jarman & Lang. The other stories were so so. 5 stars for the two stories but the book itself is a 3.

The writing made me cringe several times and never really got me excited. Maybe will come back from time to time to read a story one at a time, but I have no goals for finishing it.

I read a few of this collection of short stories, but I'm not much of a fan of short stories. Just about the time I get into the story, it over! I may get back to someday.
