I don't have a lot of nice things to say about Uninvited, and lot of that is my fault. I didn't exactly pick up Amanda Marrone's PNR with high hopes, but I was running under the assumption that I would find, somewhere in Jordan's chaotic mess of a life, something to like; at least some of that addictive something that keeps me coming back to the the YA shelves.

I didn't enjoy this book, as my amazon review will state. I thought it was written like mediocore fanfiction with an overuse of exclamation points and under developed characters. Jordan seemed like she was supposed to be everything all rolled into one. Instead of her being complex, it came off as just a pile of issues...terrible mother, frienemies, drinking, smoking, drugs, highly sexual, drama club, track and field, and anxiety disorder. It's too much for a 200 page book especially when you add...more

Catchy, that much is for sure. I finished reading this book the day i started it.
Jordan has had a horrible life. When new guy Michael moves in, she makes the first move and soon starts dating him. After they break up, he immediately starts dating every other girl he sees, hurting Jordan further. One day, over the summer, Michael is found dead, with no signs of a struggle. The police say he is suicidal, and leave it at that.

The book was boring =(. I honestly tried to find something good about this book. It was a waste of time, and a waste of money. If you really want to read this book well, buy a USED books from Amazon.com there are about 1.72 for the used book. Sorry, people but it's the worst book I've ever read.

I can't say that I was overally excited by this book, it was pretty basic and simple after all. But it was the kind of book you want to read when you need a break from reading the long ones. I liked the story outline of the dead ex boyfriend becoming a boyfriend wanting his ex girlfriends attentiuon, But what I didn't like so much was the fact that you never really knew how he turned into a vampire which was somewhat annoying. I found myself wanting to know more so of course you expect the story...more

This book is great! I picked this book to read because it was by one of my favorite authors. It has so many twists and turns, and keeps you on your feet wondering what this group of drug doing, binge drinking teenagers will do when they find out Jordan's ex-boyfriend is back from the dead. Or so they think. Since his death, he has been showing up at Jordan's window every night asking her to let him in. This has been going on for a while now, and she soon figures out that he is not only back from...more
It's actually been a while since I've read this, so bear with me if I'm a little too vague in this review. I know most of the key points and I know how I feel about the book -- but re-writing the synopsis here just made me question something I read. Without being too spoiler-ish, isn't the "Jordan's boyfriend dumper her" part wrong? I mean, I thought that she dumped him, which was one of the reasons why he did certain things. It's not going to ruin the book, or the review, but it's som...more
You know Michael is a vampire and Jordan knows Michael is a vampire, but that's pretty much the end of my expectations. Uninvited doesn't dwell on Michael's death and how it affects Jordan - Michael's harassment/stalking actually forces her to reflect on her life. Jordan is basically a shy girl with some odd anxieties, but it all relates to the fact that her shyness has limited her social skills. She started dating Michael the summer he moved to town, and their relationship went faster than she ...more
I regret spending money on this because A) after about 70 pages nothing happened and B) I am having a hard time liking the main character.
For such a badass pot smoking, drinking, partying girl, Jordan's personality is completely the opposite of all that. Who she is and what she does just doesn't seem to match.
Also I felt like I was thrown in the middle of a book because nothing was explained right, people were mentioned without us being told who they were, and it was just te...more

This was a really quick read, and it wasn't as bad as I expected based on the reviews. It's about a girl who does drugs, drinks, and has sex with guys just to go with the flow because she has no self esteem. The one boyfriend she had becomes a vampire and comes to her window every night trying to get her to invite him in. She's so messed up she almost does, and she drinks even more to cope with it. Of course, she finally gets a backbone, and takes care of her vampire, substance abuse, and guy pr...more

Ok, someone passed this book along to me and I read it thinking it would be just another of the current 'vampire craze' books. Huh - NOT. The premise is good: a high school girl is trapped in her house from sundown to sun up every night because her first love (now dead... no, UNdead) sits in the tree beside her window begging her to let him in - he needs an invitation. I did like that the vampire in this story was actually an evil horrible being, not the current romanticized version that's ev...more

To start off, honestly, this book was awful. Characters, plot line, mood, all of it. It is about a girl named Jordan who doesn't exactly do the right things. She drinks, partys, and does drugs. Her best friend Rachael is a lot worse. For the past 3 months Jordan is stalked by her ex boyfriend, who has just died and has come back as a vampire. He is at her window everynight and is just creepy.
All of the characters are one dimensional and are not written well. Jordan just complains...more
Uninvited is 100% completely and utterly a ‘young adult’ book. Don’t be mislead into thinking that because you’re an adult who enjoyed Twilight you will enjoy this!
I count myself very lucky that my introduction to Amanda Marrone’s work was through Devoured, which I thought to be an original story with some quite thrilling moments. If I’d started with Uninvited I would never have touched another one of her books.

Jordan's life is a mess. She runs with the party crowd: drinking, drug use, sexual stupidity are rampant in her life. Her ex-boyfriend, who was hardly a paragon of virtue, kills himself - or did he? The evening of his funeral he shows up at her window begging her to let him in. Jordan quickly discovers Michael is a vampire. He says he loves her and wants to be with her and her life stinks so badly his offer is looking really good. But is an eternity with Micheal the best choice? Is he really all...more
I can't express how glad I am that I borrowed this book from the library. I had been seeing it in border's and had wanted to read it. I would have been upset it I had spent money on getting this book. I am not exactly a teen at 24 but I don't think that teens will enjoy this book anymore than I did. The main character is being stalked by her dead ex-boyfriend. OK. Said ex is making her life miserable. OK. She is having some general teen issues of her own. OK. It seemed like there was going to be...more

It’s been a long time since i’ve read something about vampires, and if you think Twilight was bad, well, obviously you haven’t read Uninvited by Amanda Marrone. I usually don’t make references about other works, but this one is inevitable. Why is it that pdfs read faster than physical book? I finished this in about 30 minutes.
The plus, it is completely sans all the retarded-ness that is Twilight and Stephanie Meyers (whatever her name is). The vampire in this book, amazingly, made himself even more of an a-hole dead as he had been in life.
The minus, it's about a bunch of superficial, alcoholic, drugged out teens. Who wouldn't know a meaningful relationship (be it platonic or romantic) if it bit them in the ass...more

Uninvited was an interesting spin on the popular vampire craze at first, with the protagonist suffering from a haunting of sorts from her recently un-dead ex-boyfriend. However, as the story unfolded it grew predictable and nothing really happened in the middle chapters, all of them could have run as one big one, with only a few character and plot changes happening.
That said, the protagonist herself was refreshing from the usual clean cut teens we see in YA, with her coping the only...more

This was an interesting take on the whole vampire thing. The plot hinges on the vampire superstition about having to be invited in. It begins in the middle of the action, with the main character having spent the past three months getting drunk in her room at night, because after sundown, her dead ex-boyfriend has been sitting in the tree outside her window begging for her to let him in.
The story isn't one of those hot-vampire stories. It's more about the main characters growing ...more

What is it with me and vampire books lately? Here I am again, two weeks after I made fun of Dead Is the New Black. Fortunately, this review won’t turn out to be all that negative.
1. I hated the protagonist in the beginning. She was so pathetic and depressing she made me want to bang my head into the wall. Fortunately, I didn’t, because that would have made things pretty awkward between my parents and me. I realized, many chapters into the book, she was like that for a reason. Still,...more

The world is ending. I know it. If the world is infested with sex crazed, pot smoking, beer drinking teenagers such as the ones in this book then I know for sure this world is doomed.
It simply amazes me that such people exist. Or is the author trying too hard? Does she really think teenagers are like that these days? Because I know for sure I wont sleep with a new guy every week just because I dumped my old asshole of a boyfriend.

I enjoyed this book. It was different, then what I am used to reading.
What I liked about this series is how it deals with so many teenage issues. I enjoyed how this book showed so many things that teenage could have wrong in their lives and cause them to do of the things they do. How some act, and how they can change their lives if they want to.

All she has to do is say the word and Michael will be invited it, but she's scared.
Does she let him in?
Read and find out.

This is the story of Michael and Jordan. Michael and Jordan are a couple until Michael dies. He was attacked by a vampire and so he became one. Now he spends every night at Jordan's window asking her to let him in, saying that he only wants to talk because he is so lonely and blah blah. Jordan doesn't believe him in fact she is afraid of him, and she always tries to be home before night comes. When one of Jordan's friend who is deadly sick finds out about the vampire exboyfriend she finds him an...more
This was a conglomeration of almost every vampire myth from the old school vampire stories. With so many books around that romanticize vampires and makes them sexy, this had the opportunity to be a really good book about an evil, no-good vampire. That said, it failed miserably. The characters were bland and unlikable, save for maybe Lisa at the end, and Michael was comical. Our main character is supposed to have social anxiety disorder so bad that she can befriends people she doesn't even li...more

Amanda Marrone grew up on Long Island where she spent her time reading, drawing, watching insects, and suffering from an over-active imagination. It didn’t help that her father told bloodcurdling stories, and would take Amanda and her siblings for moon lit walks in the graveyard—the highlight of which involved having them march up to mausoleums and knock on the doors—alone. On more than one occasi...more
