This answered a lot of questions I had about Evangelical Christianity. He approaches it from an academic perspective and gives a very fair positive explanation of doctrine, culture, etc. I liked how he had Christian academics review the book and also his many quotes from the definers of the modern Evangelical movement. There were sections where he went more in depth than I think he should have in an introductory book.
