This is the best book that I have read. I came across it in time of need and I truly believe that God's Angels lead me to it. It has changed the way I look on life and has certainly changed my life arround. God's Angels have proven to me again and again that they exist and this has given me hope that I will get better throughout my cancer treatment over the last five years. This is a delightful story about a woman who speaks with angels. The author's take on what the "truth" is about God and Satan is only slightly off-putting, as after describing her perspective, she does not insist that others should embrace it. Although she does mention God throughout, the open-minded reader can easily take it for what it is: one of many labels given to the universe/supreme being/superconscious/etc.

One factor that sets her life apart from most of the rest of us is that while she was growing up, she was called "retarded," an inadequate label for mystifying and serious learning difficulties that I suspect reflect neurological wiring differences. She was taken out of school, when she was -- I believe-- about ten, but she was considered "retarded" from her earliest years -- even before entering school. If by using the internet you observe her being interviewed, it should be quite clear that "retarded" is a completely erroneous label for this pleasant-looking, somewhat shy, but clear-spoken and articulate woman.
What some readers may have difficulty absorbing is the theme throughout the story -- that Lorna, from her very earliest memories, sees and communicates with beings of light she calls angels. These spirit beings are characters in her life story as prevalent as family members.
She says that she did not realize in her earliest life that others did not see and experience the world as she did (well, young children normally "see" things and have imaginary playmates and the like, but are taught in our western culture to categorize such experiences as not REAL...) Indeed, she soon learned not to share much with others -- she was being raised in an Irish Catholic family and culture, after all, and her experiences -- even as a child-- seemed to her outside the norm. (Lorna had guides instructing her and showing her possible glimpses of the future, for starters. )
What is perception anyhow? How do we know what anyone else is really experiencing? Reading this book is a start. She speaks of how distracting it could be at times to have so many spirit beings present, sometimes playfully doing somersaults or speaking to her, when human beings were communicating with her, too. Her life journey is one most open-minded readers will enjoy learning about--- even if they have an alternate explanation for some of the experiences that she writes about. She is a woman most of us would be fascinated to meet. I, for one, have always considered the possibility that I might have a guardian angel. Here comes a person who says that everyone she has seen has a guardian angel of light. How cool would it be to meet a person such as Lorna who could talk to our guardian angels and find out their names!(less)

Kirjassaan hän valottaa, että maailma on täynnä enkeleitä, hän on muutaman heistä tavannut, ja meistä jokaisella on oma suojelusenkeli. IHmisten pitäisi pyytää enkeleiltä useimmin apua, enkelit auttaisivat ja neuvoisivat meitä elämässä eteenpäin. IHmiskunta on nykyään niin kiireistä ja materialistista, että hyvyys ei ole enää ensisijainen arvo.

Lorna Byrne kertoo elämästään, jota on varjostanut köyhyys, äitiys, pulmallinen suhde vanhempiin ja aviomiehestään Joesta. Enkelit ovat joka hetkellä neuvoneet häntä ja olleet tämän vierellä.

Kirja on hyvin kauniisti kirjoitettu ja se sopii kenelle tahansa riippumatta siitä kuuluuko mihinkään uskontokuntaan vai ei. Kirjoittaja mainitseekin, että enkelit ovat meidän kaikkien kanssa riippumatta edellämainitusta. KIrja antaa lukijalleen toivoa ja rauhaa. Monen skeptisemmänkin kannattaisi lukea kirja ihan uteliaisuuttaan ja avata mieltään sen verran, että ajattelisi asioita.
Kirja todella laittaa ajattelemaan asioita. Minä en pidä sitä hömppänä mutta tämä on vain minun näkemykseni. Ihmiset tarvitsevat lohtua ja tunnetta siitä, että joku välittää ainaisen väkivallan ja arkisten murheiden keskellä.

Kirjaa kannattaa kierrättää eteenpäin. Toivon, että siitä on apua ihmisille ja ihmiset miettisivät sitä kautta omaa toimintaansa. Vaikka ei enkeleihin uskoisi, voi ainakin itse toimia niin kuten on tarkoitettu.(less)

This is a wonderful book about angels. You must read the whole book to understand it fully. Angels are real, they are all throughout the Bible. Every religion on earth has mention of angels. This is an unusual book, it's quite a good read despite being preachy at times. It basically is the life story of a woman called Lorna and the 'angels' she sees. I read this for a book club, and would not have chosen it for myself from the blurb on the back. I am sceptical about the whole angel thing, but tried to read it from the perspective of Lorna herself. She obviously believes she can see these visions and it has helped her to cope with a difficult life, being labelled retarded and living in poverty for most of her life. If you believe in angels, you will love this book. It is Lorna Byrne's autobiography, and in it she explains her ability to see angels and be advised by them for all her life. She grew up in a poor town in Ireland, and is now telling her story. She is in her fifties, and no longer worries that people will intrude on her family. A good break from the rather serious books I had been reading lately. Although, being biographical in nature, it certainly had enough hardship in it. Overall, it was still a positive, uplifting and amusing book. I would seriously like to sit down with this author and ask a TON of questions! I can't help but find the idea of unemployed angels to be comedic, even though it was not really indended as such. Whether you believe in angelic intervention or not, this book will leave you with a smile.

Really mixed feelings on this one. I would probably give it 2 1/2 stars, but I will come back and review it after we discuss it in book club this week. Think back to when you read The Celestine Prophecy for the first time, when the writing reminded you of an amateur but the story reminded you of a pro. Angels in My Hair falls in the same category. No literary genius here but the stories she tells confirm some of my own experiences, open up new perspectives and inspire me to invite my own angels to play a bigger role in my life. I am still reading this book. I love the stories and understanding of angels that I already believed in and utilized but simply have been reminding me how important it is to use this gift of angels everyday.

The book is a bit slow and I was hoping for some more indepth stories. It's more like journal entries about things that happened where she encountered angels. But the experiences she had were lovely and give a peaceful sense about your life.

My hairdressed recommended this book to me. She said she read the entire book, front to back, during her flight here from Ireland. I had such high expectations of this story based on the raving review I heard, but I wasn't much impressed. It's a quick, easy read and I didn't feel myself struggling through it, but I had a hard time "believing." I'm not sure I can get behind the message she was "asked" to pass along from angels and God.

Angels in my hair by Lorna Byrne was a book I read while visiting Ireland. I had picked it up in a local bookstore outside of Kilkenny and once I started I couldn't up it down. The interesting perspective and memoir of Mrs. Byrne's ability to communicate with angels was truly fascinating. I recommended this book to my mom because I felt it was something we could share together. It was a moving novel.

A very good read. I have always been fascinated with angel stories. One day on my way to N Irelaland I chanced upon this book at the airport - the last copy on the shelf. I bought it and since then my understanding of angels, religion and life was put on a different perspective. I am now reading her 2nd book. This is a must read...believe and your life will change for the better.

I've always believed in guardian angels,so I am very open to a book like this. I also believe my loved ones who've passed away are watching over my family. This book was aptly characterized by my brother, who said, "It's Angela's Ashes with Angels." Lorna Byrne is an Irish mystic and tells readers that she is surrounded by angels. She explains in what form they appear to her and the ways in which they have helped her and others during difficult times.

I really enjoyed reading this book, and although truly "hard to believe" I came to terms with the fact that I don't care... If it is not true, then it is a book with hope and just a wonderful read.. If it is true, then I can also embrace it. I'm glad this point of view was shared either way....It should be a great book club discussion when we get to read it...

I really liked this book, it was easy to read, and Lorna has a way of writing which makes you feel as if she is talking to you. It is a heart touching book, an honest and informative narrative of her personal experiences with Angelic beings. A good book for those who are starting to explore the spirit side of life!

Fascinating book. This book is very conversational; it feels like Lorna Byrne invites you for tea right in her modest home, and then proceeds to tell you stories of her life which challenge you to suspend disbelief and explore your faith.

I would recommend this book to anyone who thinks there might be more to this world than what meets the eye.

I gotta say, I had a hard time deciding whether to give this book 2 stars of 4 stars. For the first half I didn't love it. It was weird. It was unbelievable, and not very well written. I loved this book, because of its endearing simplicity and the Lightness of Being that one may perceive in the Author's description of Angels.
I LOVE ANGELS and feel their help and proximity.
It is incredible that people may have thought Lorna was "retarded" when in fact she had a beautiful soul...

I like to think I have a guardian angel. Lorna Byrne is an Irish mystic and tells readers that she is surrounded by angels. She explains in what form they appear to her and the ways in which they have helped her and others during difficult times. I'm personally open to this kind of book but not sure it would convince a non-believer.....

This was a very unusual read. I found the author's account of her life disarmingly honest and yet authoritative. As someone who has also felt different from the crowd, I enjoyed her sense of being gifted by God to help those around her, and her detailed descriptions of the angels in her life inspired me to look for the angels in mine.

Loved the way it took me on an adventure and caused some deep thinking. Thinking came painlessly. Also loved the descriptions of life in Ireland that paralleled my own. Author is in her late 50's and is a wonderful story teller. Convinced me to spend more time in communication with my own angels.

I was recommended this book by a work colleague. I found it a really interesting read and it left me feeling uplifted.I've always believed in spirits and angels and the way this book tells of Lorna's experiences I know I'm right. I've already got the next book ready to read.

I read this book when I was in Thailand. It's a very spiritual book written by an Irish lady who sees angels from the day she was born. Even though you might not believe the entire story it gives a very warm feeling and stimulates me to behave nicer towards other people.
