I feel like this book wasn't nearly as educational as most DK Readers - even though this one is pre-level 1. It had lots of pictures, and the vocabulary was solid, but there wasn't a lot of real information presented. It doesn't say what pit vipers bite, just that they do. It doesn't say what rattlers do after they shake their tail, just that they do. "Here's a snake doing something," instead of taking the opportunity to say why it might be doing it.

A good informational text for children. Text can be read by students around the age of 6/7. The book focuses mainly on the different types of snakes. The photographs make the snakes look like they are jumping off the page at you! A snake lover will surely enjoy this book.

This book introduces a variety of snakes, including interesting ones such as sea snakes and flying tree snakes. It illustrates some parts of snakes such as the tails, fangs, and hood of the cobras. Every page has amazing photos and short easy to read sentences.
