I like the metaphors...man itself can be pigs...we are animal-like in some way. we yearn for as much rebellion maybe even power as the dog who is sitting right next to us. I applaud George Orwell for making politics a little more imaginative and unconventional.

I also read this in high school. I remember it being disturbing which is probably why I didn't like it. I have to re-read...

i think this book is a amazine because it gives you a clue how the animal relate to the people. And how we been in the invorement, it also talked about how the goverment how they used their power over others. I give the author a big credit for how he characters the Aminal vs human which how we been treat each others.
There a was a part that i liked about this book when the pigs tried to be man, and when the man tried to be pigs then as it goes back in front they didn't know which one is wh More...

I wouldn't call this book an amazing work of writing, since it was simple and to the point. I felt that Animal Farm was more informing than a book for one's entertainment.
At the beginning of the book, I laughed because it was so unrealistic. I just kept thinking "Wow, these pigs are freakin' smart!" I can't say much about it but I was for Snowball the whole time. Sure, he was hiding things too, but compared to Napoleon he looked like a saint.

Many of you may have read this book in high school or it may be on the curriculum for the future, but either way, you must have heard of this classic, or at least its author. George Orwell wrote many political allegories, or stories whose character or events are symbolic. Animal Farm is only one of them.
I wasn't even expecting to read this, as my teacher did not have it on the syllabus, so this was quite the surprise. The edtion that I read had similar and related short stories in on More...

I thought this book was really good because its from the prospective of the animals and that they riot because of the farmers and over take the farm. My favorite character in this story was Boxer and he was such a kind horse and the pig ended up sending him away to get killed.

A very thinly veiled allegory . . . this is one of those books I managed to avoid in HS that I am expected to teach this year. I much prefer 1984 to this fable.

I, surprisingly, really enjoyed this book. Orwell did an amazing job with the characterization of the animals.
One of my favorite lines is the last one of the book- "The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which."
*note- The book is actually only 97 pages long. The rest is related reading.

I liked how this book warned people about the government indirectly. The pigs represent the people high in power that make the rules while the dogs represent the people that enforce the rules. The rest of the farm animals represented the everyday civilian, they go by the rules and give the pigs power in doing so.

They should not have made us read this in 7th grade. I have to read it again before I can give it the praise it deserves.

Imagine if 1984 was about stupid farm animals and didn't have a protaganist.
