Justice Rutledge and the Bright Constellation
An interesting biography of one of the most likeable and able FDR appointees to the Supreme Court. It was written by an important legal scholar and Yale faculty member. The focus is more upon the cases decided during Rutledge's tenure than upon personal information.

I enjoyed this book but it did not tell me a lot about Justice Rutledge's life. In 1979, I had the pleasure of a dinner conversation with Justice Rutledge's half-brother, Ivan Rutledge. He had a very low opinion of the book and said that he hoped to write a law review article listing all of the inaccuracies in the book. Unfortnately, I don't think he ever found the time.
