An interesting study of 19th-century abolitionist newspapers, the gay & lesbian press, the underground Vietnam-era GI newspapers, and the environmentalist magazines. I'm not exactly sure what the comparison itself really teaches us, but if you are interested in oppositional movements or non-mainstream media, as I am, you will enjoy the book.
