This book is simply a sparkling delight.
Junie B. Jones has hardly been funnier than she is in the pages of this effervescent story. In my opinion Barbara Park has done an above-average job of writing this book when it is compared to the rest of the Junie B. Jones series, and her unique wit and potential for incredibly relevant and tangible feeling come through beautifully as we follow Junie B. Jones on this fun adventure.
In addition to the wonderful humor, anyone who has ever felt More...

My stepson wanted to read to me today and chose this book. I made him stop reading after the second page because the grammar in this book is excruciatingly bad, and I do not want him to pick up bad speaking habits. Adjectives where there should be adverbs, use of fake words like "bestest" (I was very proud of my boy for saying "that's not a word, is it?")

The author should be ashamed of herself. Just because the protagonist is a five year old, it is completely ina More...

Junie B. Jones is a very highly recommended series for primary readers, whom I found to be defined as kindergarten through third grade readers. The wording was perfect for that of a kindergartener. She wrote EXACTLY how they speak, and plus also, it was hilarious to read. I think the most important parts of the book, the parts taht make it good for primary readers, is the fact that it deals with an issue that every kid faces, as well as being written in their jargon. Everyone knew how important More...

This doesn't really deserve the one star. We just got a big stack of these books as a hand-me-down and we were excited because I know they are popular and thought they would be fun summer reading.
We just finished Meanie Jim's Birthday and I'm not only disappointed but completely shocked that people like this drivel. If you can look beyond how awful the grammar is there is nothing left but a bratty six year old who calls everything stupid and makes up cruel nicknames for the kids in her cla More...

One of my two all-time favorite JBJ books. My heart broke for Junie B. just a little when Meanie Jim invited everyone to his party except her (hurray for Jim's mother, by the way, for making him do the right thing). And when she had to return the gift she had purchased for Jim, I thought I was going to die laughing. "I cannot be trusted with this wonderful thing, apparently," remains one of my favorite lines in children's literature.

When your mom tells yo invite all of your to your birthday party you do it and you don't leave anyone behind even though you hate that person and you don't get along with that person. ONE lesson that i learned was that even though that person did not invite you,you don't have to get upset you can have your own party and invite all your friends except the one that did not invite you to his/hers party.

This book is really good. I Read it when i was on 6th grade and i really like it. The main character is Junie B. Jones and Jim. Junie really wanted to go to Jim's Birthday. And the birthday was after school in the afternoon. Junie B. got upset at school because she could not go to the party. Or else she would be the only one in room nine that did not go. Thats because the meanie Jim didn't invite her.

That Junie B. is a crazy mofo.

This was the story of how Junie B. wasn't invited to a kid's birthday party in her class. Craziness ensues. She is way too smart for her own good and reminds me of one of my second graders. :)

Said second grader and two other high readers will be indulging in this literary delight this week as part of their book club. We'll see what the target audience thinks!!

Part of me thinks I probably shouldn't promote the Junie books because she does tend to act out-of-control, and I'd hate to encourage kids in that. But on the other hand, this character truly does act like a typical little kid, and she does and says things that are so funny that my son and I both laugh out loud. So we talk about whether she makes good choices, but we continue to like the books.

It was meanie Jims birthday and everyone got an invitation except for Junie.
Then Junie went to the pricipal's office then Jim went to the principal's office because he didn't give Junie a invitation.
At the office Jim gave Junie an invitation because the principal told him to.

Not to bad. I didn't like the fact that the author uses a lot of words that I don't really want to teach my child at a younger age (stupid, dumb, fat head ect). Since I read these books out loud for storytime at home I replace or simply skip them all together. What I really like about this book is that it helps teach kids that they have their own choices. From kid to kid!!

Guess who's not invited? That meanie Jim has invited everyone in Room Nine to his birthday party on Saturday- except Junie B.! Should she have her own birthday party six months early and not invite Jim? Or should she move to It's a Small World After All in Disneyland?

She stole William's invitation to the party because she didn't get one. She finally got one in the office. She didn't go to the party cause she wanted to go help her grandpa fix the toilet.

A good read. Iliked how Parks dealt with the issue of not being invited to a party and how it made Junie B. feel.
