I've read this book a thousand times, and I've just realized how mundane it is. Most of the problem is that all but this reading took place when I was in junior high and high school - I read ANYTHING I could get my hands on, and so I read a LOT of Danielle Steel.

The plot of this one is still on of my favorites, but the writing isn't great. They make the same joke at least three times, and I don't think you're supposed to notice.

I did it again. This is my third reading this book and I never feel tired of it. Heartbeat is a very heartwarming book. Steel's books might be a bit stereotype or a bit predictable but I love how it's written. But I think the truth behind the story is about second chance to love and to forgive ourselves. This book really swept my heart every time I read it. The friendship between Bill and Adrian brought them together and been meaning to start a whole new life. They shared their sorrows, supports ...more

I believe that this is my first Danielle Steel book. I've liked other romances, but I have to say that this was not my favorite. The plot was weak, the characters cardboard. I could tell you what was going to happen in the end from about page 30. It was a long and painful process getting there. **stop here for spoilers *** The only surprise was when she came with the boys and Bill on the vacation and saved Tommy from drowning in the river. I didn't see that coming. It was an unusual topic as wel ...more

I don't know why i read this book. Maybe because everyone talks about Danielle Steel. I didn't enjoy it, the writing isn't good. But i don't want left it unfinish, so i think it's the worst reading experiment in this year. Sorry

Heartbeat tells the story of two people who face the heartbreak of their spouses leaving them. Through the pain they are able to find each other and show that love does conquer all. f

This book was really well written and I did have a hard time putting it down. At times I just wanted to yell at Adrian to stop being an idiot, but had she actually listened to me then there would be far less drama in the book.

As amazing as this book was, I couldn't help being bothered by the inconstant way Bill was

This book is great if you want a light read considering it was pretty simplistic. I have to mention it was repetitive and I personally didn't feel the characters were convincing enough meaning there wasn't a lot of depth to them. Overall its not as bad as people say, it was predictable yes, but it is a romance novel from the early 90's.. & anyway it does have that soap opera feel to it in terms of writing which means the dialog between characters can be shallow and bland. All this and the ba ...more

The extraordinary thing about this, is that I read about half of this book before getting to a scene which I suddenly realized I'd already read. So either there's a very similar scene (during the camping trip), or I read this book ages ago. I know many years ago I read some Danielle Steel novels while visiting my sister-in-law... I guess this must have been one of them. But aside from that one scene, nothing else felt familiar. Very strange. This amnesia didn't detract from my enjoyment of the b ...more

This book wasn't that great. Way too predictable. Adrian's husband's character was just unbelievable and the romance between her and Bill was way too drawn out. I didn't really care about the soap opera either. I was more interested in characters they mentioned once or twice.

This was one of those tender sweet love stories that makes you go aaawww. It starts out with two separate couples that are going through hardships in their marriages. The first couple is about a middle aged man that works to many hours as a soap opera writer and doesn't have anytime left for his family. His wife has fallen out of love with him and wants to start a new life with her two boys in New York. They divorce and he moves to California to be closer to his work. This is a good story of two people who found each other only after going through first marriages. Hardly unusual these days, even in real life.

Bill Thigpen has a great marriage, until he starts a soap opera, it's a success, and then it takes all his time. His wife, probably quite justifiably, divorces him. But he still has his satisfying work.

Ms. Steel probably drew upon her own life for this. She's also a hard worker in a creative field, and extremely successful. Balancing this with relationshi

If you didn't see the 1990s TV movie version or want to read or reread the print version, in Danielle Steel's Heartbeat, she introduced to two people who needed each other at the right moment. Bill Thigpen was a top TV drama producer who was on a rise, when he didn't notice that his marriage collapsed at the seems. Now, nine years later, alone with no wife, he lived in Hollywood and thought it was a perfect balance between high ratings and occasional visits with his two young sons. As for Adria ...more

At first I really blamed BILL on what had happened to his marriage. But when ADRIAN came in his life and started falling in love with her, everything has changed. I don't think his different with her because he learned from his failure with LESLIE. I believe that there is something great in ADRIAN that's why she loved her with all of his heart. He became the man of every woman's dream. He accepted her with all of her baggages in her life. He loved her no matter what. And the most amazing thing a ...more

This was my first Danielle Steele book - my Mom has had all her books, but I never read one, surprisingly. Anyways, this book was good. As a mom now, I tend to read books involving family relationships a little differently, and this one made me cry at several points. The plot involves a man leaving his wife because she's pregnant and he never wanted kids. I hated him throughout the whole novel, so I definitely loved the other male character more. I found the main character, Adrian, a little anno ...more

I did like it but not that much. It's a super bestseller but I didn't like it as a bestseller. Maybe I don't like love stories anymore lol. JK because this book was predictable, and with a good ending and maybe that's why I didn't like it. I like surprises! I like things I can't even imagine can happen. But I recommend it to those who like reading love stories.

Probably one of her better books. Pretty simple love story, simple writing(though still in desperate need of an editor). I thought the main characters were a lot more likeable than in some of Mrs Steel's other books. Fluffy, cute, and syrupy sweet, like american Coca Cola with all that high fructose corn syrup.

I have read the whole novel, and in somehow I like it. However, lack of morals and ethics of the characters made me dislike it. Also picturing humans as having no control over feelings and actions because of them bother me a lot.
