3.75 stars. Bestseller is hard to rate because the story is quite a non-stop thriller, but the writing was rather simplistic. There's a line in the book about storytellers and writers. The author is definitely a storyteller.

Bestseller is a quick read that is surprisingly nasty in many parts. It will keep you reading late into the night. The ending isn't exactly groundbreaking or even new at all, which was a bit disappointing, but overall, horror fans will enjoy this book.

If you like tense thrillers, this is a good one. I never would have found this book had it not been for my kids who love "Jonathan Rand's" American Chillers and Michigan Chillers (he obviously lives in Michigan)! They dragged me to his store in northern Michigan this summer and he was there! They were so thrilled to meet Jonathan who was so kind, sweet and scared the bejeezus out of me by hitting a button that dropped a rubber bat on my head. I digress, but since he was signing his books, and I ...more

I bought this on a whim after visiting the author's Chillermania store in Indian River, MI, not really knowing what to expect because he is known under his other pen name for the American Chillers children's books. What a surprise! Bestseller is a tense, unsettling thriller with a level of nastiness I didn't anticipate. The denouement was too long for me and didn't add much to the story, but that is the only complaint I had.

Bestseller is a fast, exciting read and I will be reading more of the au

Terrifying story of a NYC literary agent who is stalked by one of her deranged, sadistic former writers while she is in northern Michigan at a lone cabin in a desolate, deserted area in the U.P. trying to rest, relax, and read manuscripts. It’s very fast-moving, riveting, and unnerving...I could not read it at night. (I almost put it in the freezer like Joey with The Shining on "Friends".)

Shelves: thrillers
Most of the time I wanted to yell at the main character. Wanted to ask her what the hell is she still doing there if she is getting all these clues that she's obviously not alone. But I guess that wouldn't give us a story, would it? Regardless of that it was a pretty good story. The author lays out the enviroment quite well and the epic climax was worth all the "WTF's" I was doing.

Stuck between a 3.5 and 4...went with the 4 because of the twists at the very end.
