I have to say the first half of the book was only ho hum...thought about giving it up, but didn't have any other books to occupy my time, so I trudged on. I'm really glad I did, because this second half is good...I've laughed at the drunken antics of these Masters students, recognizing some of these things as bone headed manuevers I once participated in or witnessed. The is it a relationship or isn't it plot between Toby and Alex is a little wearying...but I love their interactions, as well as...more

This was a very cute book and I enjoyed reading it. When Alexandra (Alex) sees her ex-boyfriend, he impliles that she could never get into grad school in England and she takes this as a challenge. Next thing she knows, she has moved across the ocean and is in graduate school. There she makes new friends, has exciting adventures, and does a lot of partying! She develops a crush on her seriously hot professor and gets involved in love lives of those around her. This is a fun book to read and I rec...more

Although this was Crane's debut novel, I picked this one up after thoroughly enjoying Everyone Else's Girl. However, this book was a disappointment. It contained none of the wit, humor or insight of Everyone Else's Girl. All the characters seemed to do was drink. None of the characters were particularly compelling, and I couldn't bring myself to care about any of them or what happened to them. Nothing really seemed to happ...more

This was a cute premise, but it just didn't deliver for me. One of the reasons I love reading British authors is the little cultural differences between Great Britain and the US, but those really weren't explored a lot in this book.
I found in the end, I didn't care if any of the characters ended up together. I love a book where the male love interest's feelings for the female character just jump out of the page and hit me in the pit of my stomach, but that didn't happen here.

This book was pretty much just awful. It didn't hold my interest, I didn't really care for any of the characters and was not at all motivated to see how it all ended. It was not that well written either. I like "chick lit" in general and read quite a bit of it... this book is one of the worst I have ever attempted to read from this genre. Don't waste your time. And if you feel compelled to read it, borrow it from a library. Don't waste your money.

I mainly skimmed. Wow, did I dislike many of these characters. Some eventually grew on me, but they were all pretty whiny/annoying and I spent at least half the book wanting to muzzle the main character. It wasn't terrible, I guess, but the author did a much better job with characterization and the similar theme in the Meredith McKay book. I'll read Frenemies when it comes out, but I won't rush right out for it.

American girl attends graduate school in England and crazy antics ensue. Definitely a light chick-lit read. The book was just okay - you can see the ending coming pretty much from the beginning. However, what kept me turning the pages is the book's setting at the University of York... I was awash in nostalgia. Definitely a trip down memory lane.

What will I do with my life??? I know, I'll go to grad school...in England! This book introduces graduate school as a magical place where everyone is an alcoholic and smokes like a chimney. There is a love story nestled in there somewhere, but the story was so lackluster that I didn't care what happened to the main character.

I identified with the heroine who applied to graduate school in England to show her ex-boyfriend she could do it, but I must admit that if I didn't enjoy novels with university settings I might have got tired of these characters. None of them was particularly appealing, and the resolution was quite predictable.

That was a quick one, and total fluff. There were a couple of places I didn't follow the conversation, a couple of times I didn't care, and a couple of times I thought Alex was psycho. But it entertained me for an evening, so I can't complain too much.

This book was awful! I don't think I've disliked a main character so much as this one. She's a lush, smokes like a chimney pipe, is completely unmotivated and is so negative that it's a wonder that she had friends. This book was a complete waste of time!

This is a really cute story & a fun book to read. US girl goes to UK to pursue her Master's degree - on a dare from her ex-boyfriend that she could not get into a UK university.
Really good read! Highly recommend this one!

I dont remember when I read this, but it was a fun book! Mostly because I would LOVE to do something like this - move to the UK for a year to go to grad school (although I'm getting a little old for that now).

This book is about graduate students who do nothing but party and aren't mature enough to have adult relationships. Are people really like that? I don't know but I do know this book was boring.

A cute and easy read. This book will have you laughing out loud as the protagonist tries to navigate her new life as an American graduate student studying aboard in England.

Book was hilarious. A great trip through a woman's move to England to show her ex, who said, "you could never do that," that oh yes, she can. I laughed so much throughout.

Nothing spectacular, but I didn't put it in the "books to trade/sell" pile either.
Pretty generic chicklit, but I enjoyed the "fish out of water in England" aspect.

The character in this book lives my dream. So much truth and feeling in every word and very easy to relate to. This is becoming one of my favorite authors.

I related to the main character in her lost-in-life early on. This book has inspired me to get my masters degree, although I won't be heading to England.

"Sometimes I think I'll never really belong anywhere, or trust anyone. I think I need to learn how to stop caring about that."
"You can't decide not to care," Sean said. "You can only control your response."
"Is that really possible?" I asked.
"It really is," he said. "It even starts to get a little bit easier."
"Really?" My voice sounded like a stranger's. "When?"
