I have the fondest memories of this book. It was one of the first novels I read and I have never forgotten it. I was so enthralled by it and I will definitely pass it on to any future children that I might have.

Years after I read this book it has stuck with me and is one of the few books I would consider worth a re-read. A story that beautifully melds magic and the real world, and makes some very valid points without being preachy.

I read this book to my kids and they couldn't wait to see what happened in each chapter. A unanimous "Ohhhhhhh" whenever I said "ok, bed time. Let's see what happens tomorrow night in the next chapter".
