An amazing portrayal of the electoral system, specifically the American presidential system. Reed takes readers on an amazing journey through the ins and outs of the process, including the dirty underbelly of interest groups, while shining the light on the intricacies of the system.
When I read a little background on Reed, I was not sure that I would enjoy this book. Being the head of a mega faith organization, I presumed that this would be an indoctrination of faith overlaying a political thrill...more

I couldn't get past the first thirty or so pages, maybe if I had I would have found the 'smart' in this poli-thriller.
The premise seemed pirated, the pop culture references were a decade out of date before it was published, and the smart insider talk sounded like someone took Aaron Sorkin's table scraps, put them in a blender and broadcast it out of my ass.
I suppose it might be passable for pop fiction but books like this are what makes Dan Brown seem like a genius.

Great book. Lots of action and intrigue. The author has done a great job. Another great political thriller book is called, "The Masada Protocol" by author Lee Broad. This a fiction thriller novel based in Israel in which a former black ops officer has taken on an intelligence assignment that takes him into a Middle East conspiracy that he must solve along with the help of a beautiful under cover agent from the Mossad.

" Could a third-party candidate ever win the White House? Throughout my life, the answer has been a pretty clear "no" - but this novel by Ralph Reed will make you think differently about that.
In "Dark Horse", conditions become ripe for a third party candidate to actually win because of the disenfranchisement of so many people previously loyal to one party or the other. Political maneuverings - how things really work in Washington - are the main focus. But there...more
