In this book Anne Frank, a teenage girl was in hiding for 2 years from the Nazis because she was a Jew. This book was a diary told from her point of view. She described lots of fights between the families living there and how she felt left out or made fun of. In the end I thought the book was pretty boring but I learned many more things about the Holocaust from it.

Really touching story, and to know that it was true. How could people still say that the Holocust never happened and that people are making it up? Tragic ending, tragic.

This was truly a touching story, I'm lying if I say I didn't cry. This book would be great to read as a class because it can teach our students about the horrors of the Holocaust from the perspective of a young girl.

I read this while I was camping with the family, so when I think of this trip I immediately think of Anne Frank's Diary. I have found diaries not really interesting, but there are exceptions, and this is one of them. By the time I was finished reading it I had cried a a lot of tears. This was taken from the introduction and I quote, “This is a remarkable book. Written by a young-girl-and the young are not afraid of telling the truth—it is one of the wisest and most moving commentaries on war and ...more

Anne Frank, The Diary of a Young Girl follows the story of Anne and her family throughout their time of hiding during the Holocaust. Anne and her family and friends face boredom, depression, hunger, and fear. Anne records her experiences during her time in the secret annexe and discovers much about herself and others along the way. This is the true story of Anne, but even more so about her beliefs. Anne believed that all people should be treated equally regardless of their race, religion, ...more

The plot of the story, asides from the WWII/Holocaust context, is not necessarily eventful. It's a 25-month recount of all that went down while hiding in a home during that time. What speaks to me in this book is her spirit. It's her personality that refused to be shunned because of the circumstances. While the world was trying to take her down, she was concerned with bettering herself. Although the holocaust was a tragedy all around, it's even more of a shame that a light such as this girl was ...more

Recommends it for: anyone who hasn't read it.
Recommended to Elle by: not recommended - just sitting on my book shelf waiting for me to notice it.
Most people can say that this was required reading in grade school, which is not true for me. In fact, many classics were passed over for less thought-provoking selections.

Written from a child’s perspective, obviously, the Diary of Anne Frank was a quick read, but in its 124 pages are the touching thoughts and feelings of a young girl whose world was literally being destroyed before her eyes. Her innocence co-mingled with maturity and personal in-sight was heartfelt and surprising considering al

This diary is surprisingly engaging. Anne's voice is young, bold, refreshing, and challenging. Her perspective on life is incredible for a 14-year-old girl. She is naive yet she is well aware of her innocence. She is conflicted by her internal and external selves and demonstrates a self-awareness that is uncommon in those even twice her age. Her historical and social commentary of the times, while certainly worthwhile, were outshone by her personal courage and ambition and wisdom. This text is ...more

This book was magnificent- it's hard to put into words. Although I felt as though I was being rude, reading this young girl's diary, I couldn't put it down. Anne's spirit is just too wonderful. Although stuck in a small "housing" unit with many other people, Anne finds a way to be content with it all. Her hopes for the end of the war and the happiness it will be brought along with it are outstanding. And also mislead. In the epilogue... That was the most nerve racking epilogue I've ever read! ...more

This may make me sound insensitive but this was a horrible read. Without its context, it was just the rambling thoughts of a 14 year old girl. Parts had been altered and removed at her fathers discretion so it's not a full account. The afterward and the several parts where she did actually discuss the war were the only parts I found interesting. But that can be read without the book. In the end, it's a diary and thats it. Because of sadly what happened, I assume it became a marketers dream and ...more

I'm not hating on the book it is an important book to read and everyone should read it but it is very uneventful. Anne Frank's whole story (he biography) is much more interesting. Anne Frank is just a teenaged girl being a teenaged girl and it is very relateble for a teenaged girl to read because they can understand that those typical teenaged girl problems are everywhere no matter what time period and they can also understand that during those teenaged moments things can be so much worse. This ...more

I really liked this book. It was the story of a teenage girl who refused to have her spirits crushed, and how she lived in hiding during the holocaust. While it isn't eventful, her ideas and outlook on life made it an amazing read.
Warnings: There isn't much to complain about here, it is a touchy story but it is powerful.
I would recommend this to anyone who is interested in World War II, and how someone in hiding would have lived and the challenges they faced.

I read this when I was young and liked it well enough. This time around, not so much. I appreciate the circumstances she was in and the sacrifices and danger, etc. I certainly feel sorry for them all. However, this time around, I was really bored with some of the topics she repeated over and over. I guess, not being a young girl any longer, I'm not interested in her thoughts of a young girl maturing into an adult.

The book was pretty boring but really helped to tell me what kinds of things that the Nazis did to get rid of Jews. The end of the book was so abrupt; it said ANNE'S DIARY ENDS HERE. Then there was an afterward that described all of the characters' death. That part was ridiculous. Throughout the book, Anne seemed really bratty. When I looked at the cover I remembered it was a DIARY. These were some things she may not have wanted to publish. In the end this book was okay, but I've read better.

I have heard about Anne Frank for years, so it was time to learn all the good stuff. Honestly, I was a little disappointed. Please don't get me wrong, what happened during that time and in that situation was horrific, but this book just wasn't what I expected. It was a diary of a 14 year old girl...seriously, what could I expect?
