Anne of Brittany was raised with the knowledge that she would rule the Duchy of Brittany. With the premature death of her father, she is thrust onto the political scene at the tender age of 14, and the intrigue is just beginning! I read this for a biography report in 8th grade. You had to pretend to be the person when you give your oral report. All I remember about Anne of Brittany's life is that she had an awful lot of children and miscarraiges. This was in the children's section of the library at the time, but that was before the YA books were moved upstairs, and I think due to the content (obviously, she gets pregnant a lot...) it would be an older middle grade / YA novel.

I finished this book over a long, drawn out weekend where I ended up sick. I had never read much of Anne of Brittany before, but found this book at a library book sale and was sucked in, as I tend to be with any historical fiction from the 1400 and 1500s. While it certainly wasn't always the most exciting in its presentation of the materials, there was a lot of information packed into this book without it reading dryly.

This was one of my earliest forays into reading about royals. I believe I picked this up at a second hand book sale and loved it! It was gratifying visiting Brittany in person a few years later.
