untuk apa sebenarnya puisi dikumpulkan? saya pikir lebih dari sekedar selebrasi kata. ada yang lebih penting dari sekedar kisah cinta rilke dengan lou salome -wanita yang pernah menolak cinta nietzsche-. jika puisi bisa menggantikan kata 'hidup'. saya yakin, rilke adalah salah satu penyair yang mengimani hal itu.

seperti dulu, ketika yang kita alami hanyalah apa
yang dialami pula alam dan binatang:
kala itu kita -yang memang manusia- hidup alamiah
dan dipenuhi dengan wujud sampai tepi batas.
