As a first-time parent this has really been a big help. Lorena's pediatrician recommended we buy this and I always check it before I call the doctor or advice nurse. It even has good info on general care and discipline of infants and children. It's certainly saved me many freak-outs an trips to the doctor's office!

This book is extremely useful. It is also no-nonsense and tells things like they are. It will give you a straight answer for things like "Is that object my kid just ate poisonous." And it gives clear guidelines on things like when to take a child to the doctor and when to weather the storm at home.
Recommended by our pediatrician, and I've used it until the cover is falling off. The section on discipline is somewhat off-base in my opinion, but any parent can easily read that...more

I received an older version of this book from Lynna's Peditrician when she was born. I bought this updated version a few years ago and still use it frequently. It has wonderful advice on everything from bites and blisters to discipline issues. It has been an invaluable resource.
This is my "go to book" when I don't know what's wrong with my child. It has saved me from making some of those needless calls to the doctor where they just tell you to bring him in & charge you a copay to tell you nothing is wrong.
For basic health information, this is an excellent guide. It lists symptoms so finding out what is going on is easy.
Won't have to pay as many visits to the doctor once have this book!
oh yes, I used this an awful lot 10+ years ago.
