I don't know quite where to put Shelly Laurenston's "The Mane Attraction" on the shelf. Does it go under romantica? It's not quite erotica, but more than romance. And it's packed with humor that kept me giggling and snorting and had my husband looking at me strangely (OK, MORE strangely than usual.)

I won the ARC for this from the Author's readers group. I love Shelly, she is one of most favorite authors right now. If you are looking for a smart, FUNNY, Romantic and hot read, this is your woman. (Did I mention the alpha shifters?) Having said that, Sissy the heroian in this book, was never one of my favorite charecters of Shelly's. I found her very hard. Pride series books 1 & 2 were hilarious, real stand-outs. This one just never grabbed me.
Sissy Mae, bad girl, smart aleck shifter is featured in this book ... and she grates on my nerves like fingernails on a blackboard. Even the usual funny family and pack antics couldn't offset the Sissy Mae factor for me in The Mane Attraction.

Of all the books in the Pride series, I think it my favorite so far.
In the previous book The Beast in Him, that features Bobby Ray Smith, a good ol' boy security expert, and Jessie Ann Ward, a shy computer genius, we learn that Bobby Rae's sister, Sissy Mae, was a big bully to poor Jessie when they were growing up. Jessie gets her own back and then some in the previous book and she and Bobby Ray have a big ol' mammoth shindig of a wedding to end that book.

I knew I was going to hate Sissy Mae from the start because I hated her in every previous story. She picked on my favourite wild dog, the cow! Having said that this story managed to give her some redeeming characteristics. She can cook. That is about it. She is a pathetic, man eating pitiful excuse for a person that I would hate to have for a friend. Reading about her wasn't a picnic either.

The Mane Attraction is the third in Shelly Laurenston's Pride series and the best yet. It deals with two characters and they are characters that have already been introduced previously. This is one of my favorite PNR series when I'm looking for good humor and silliness. Yes, it's a little raunchy and dysfunctional, but it's still a super fun read.

I wish I had time for a better review but I don´t. I´ll just say I adored this book, definitely the best in the series so far. Also I had huge expectations for it as I have been dying to read about this two characters for ever. I was never dissappointed and I enjoyed every page. Can´t wait to start the next!!!

Shelly Laurenston will always be a legend to me. Her style of writing is perfectly matched to my personality and I would bow at her feet if i ever had the chance. In the mean time I feel the need to constuct my own little shrine to Shelly and pay homage to her daily.

In this story we get Sissy Mae, who is bitch...well let's not mince words here...she is. But we also see that she is loyal to those who deserve it...she defends those who need it...and is not afraid to kick a lot of ass on and off the race track.
We are treated to...I wouldn't call it a romance, more like a sexy power struggle...between Sissy and Mitch.

Mitch is still hiding out in NY before testifying against a mob boss when the price on his head is raised and someone takes a shot at him. An amazing read, love the relationship between Mitch and Sissay. You wont regret reading this series. Mitch is my Fav in the Pride series with his sexiness!!! After kind of lukewarm feelings toward the first installment in this series, I wasn't sure I wanted to continue on with these books, but I am glad I did. I found that I enjoyed this story. The things that were good in The Mane Event were good here as well: the humor and the delectable sexy times. But in this case, with a full length book I got a chance to know the characters a bit better and get more excited about their romance.

Mitch is an undercover police officer who is due to testify against a mobster. Sissy is an alpha wolf who is a bit of a trouble maker. These two have been friends for awhile but then an assassination attempt is made on Mitch and Sissy decides that she will take charge of his care and so she takes him to her home town in TN to recuperate. I had a love/hate relationship with Sissy May in the previous books, but here I started to like her in general. Mitch was goofy and spoiled in an endearing way in this book, though he totally got on my nerves in following books. The spoiled qualities of the lions just don't really do it for me.

I have been on a bit of a Shelly Laurenston marathon lately, but I hesitated before I started this one. While I do love the Lions, and I thought Mitch was a sweetheart, I was just not that much of a Sissy Mae fan. Brash, rash, and kinda trashy, I just didn't see Sissy Mae as the star of her own book. But, while I am still not Sissy's biggest fan, I did enjoy her story.
