I don't know quite where to put Shelly Laurenston's "The Mane Attraction" on the shelf. Does it go under romantica? It's not quite erotica, but more than romance. And it's packed with humor that kept me giggling and snorting and had my husband looking at me strangely (OK, MORE strangely than usual.)

He's a werelion. You know, gorgeous and mostly lazy, happy to go all night and have someone else take care of the details...alot like lions in the wild. He's also a cop with a target on his back. The...more

That's it! I found him, the man of my dreams, and I am hopelessly in love...

This book has just made my list of favourite books of all time! The Mane Attraction is the 3rd book in the Pride series and it's all about the love of my life, Mitch Shaw. Mitch is a lion shifter who happens to be an undercover cop. While he's waiting to testify he's staying with his brother, he figures he'll be safer with other shifters. But when someone tries, and almost succeeds, to kill him Mitch is taken to the one...more

I won the ARC for this from the Author's readers group. I love Shelly, she is one of most favorite authors right now. If you are looking for a smart, FUNNY, Romantic and hot read, this is your woman. (Did I mention the alpha shifters?) Having said that, Sissy the heroian in this book, was never one of my favorite charecters of Shelly's. I found her very hard. Mitch on the other hand has been a bright spot in any story he happens to be in. I would have read the book regardless....a bad Shelly lau...more

#3 Pride (shifters) series - Paranormal Romance

Pride series books 1 & 2 were hilarious, real stand-outs. This one just never grabbed me.

Sissy Mae, bad girl, smart aleck shifter is featured in this book ... and she grates on my nerves like fingernails on a blackboard. Even the usual funny family and pack antics couldn't offset the Sissy Mae factor for me in The Mane Attraction.

Shelly's books (both the Pride and Magnus Pack series) have been a major delight for me until this one, and I'll con...more

DESCRIPTION:

Weddings have the strangest effect on people. How else to explain the fact that Sissy Mae Smith woke up in Mitch Shaw's bed the morning after her brother Bobby Ray tied the knot? Or that gunmen are trying to kill Mitch, and Sissy Mae now has to escort a bleeding, stubborn, yet still incredibly sexy lion shifter to her Tennessee Pack's turf to keep him safe? It doesn't help that Mitch's appraising gaze makes her feel like the most desirable creature on earth, or that the ultimate stra...more

Third in the Pride paranormal romance series usually based in New York City. In this particular installment, the action centers in Sissy Mae and Bobby Ray's hometown in Tennessee.

The Story
Mitch is set to testify in a mob-type murder and the accused is not about to let that happen. When Mitch is shot three times in what the Pride thought was a safe place, Sissy Mae lights out of New York City with the wounded lion shapeshifter and takes him back home to Tennessee. As a wolf shifter stronghold, ev...more

Of all the books in the Pride series, I think it my favorite so far.

In the previous book The Beast in Him, that features Bobby Ray Smith, a good ol' boy security expert, and Jessie Ann Ward, a shy computer genius, we learn that Bobby Rae's sister, Sissy Mae, was a big bully to poor Jessie when they were growing up. Jessie gets her own back and then some in the previous book and she and Bobby Ray have a big ol' mammoth shindig of a wedding to end that book.

This book starts right up where the prev...more

This sexy shifter pair will make you howl with laughter and purr with satisfaction

With a hefty reward offered for his death, undercover cop and lion shifter Mitch is badly wounded by a would-be assassin's bullet just days before he is to deliver the testimony that will bring down a powerful crime boss -- then he's off to witness protection. In order to keep Mitch safe from others looking to cash in, wolf shifter Sissy Mae Smith bundles up her bleeding buddy and takes Mitch to the one place where...more

How can you not love Mitch?
Another great addition to the series.

Memorable quotes:

1.Mitch winced. “You don’t have to marry your cousin or something, do you?”
Sissy abruptly stopped pacing and turned to him with a lethal scowl. “Think we can put aside
the cultural stereotypes until we’re done with this conversation?”

2.“Of course! Because no matter what he does, when he puts on your shorts and one of your bras,
he never looks as cute in them as you do.”

3. “Yeah, yeah. Show me what ya got, sweet—Moth...more

I knew I was going to hate Sissy Mae from the start because I hated her in every previous story. She picked on my favourite wild dog, the cow! Having said that this story managed to give her some redeeming characteristics. She can cook. That is about it. She is a pathetic, man eating pitiful excuse for a person that I would hate to have for a friend. Reading about her wasn't a picnic either.

Having said that, the story is fun, but not like the previous in this series. I think the killer-assassin...more

The Mane Attraction is the third in Shelly Laurenston's Pride series and the best yet. It deals with two characters and they are characters that have already been introduced previously. Sissy Rae Smith is Alpha female to the New York Smith wolf pack, formerly of Tennesse and sister to Bobby Ray Smith who got together with Jessica Ann Ward in the previous book. Mitchell Shaw is a lion shifter and brother to Brendon Shaw whose story with Ronnie Lee Reed was told in the second half of the first boo...more

This is one of my favorite PNR series when I'm looking for good humor and silliness. Yes, it's a little raunchy and dysfunctional, but it's still a super fun read.

This book is about Mitch (lion shifter) and Sissy Mae (wolf shifter) - both whom you meet in earlier books. Mitch is an undercover detective about to testify against a big mafia-type baddie. He discovers that an assasin has been hired to take him out. Sissy Mae is a good friend and partner-in-crime who helps him "lay low" for awhile....more

Wooowwww…!!!

Emang ga nyesel mendahulukan buku in...more

‘The Mane Attraction’ is the third book in Shelly Laurenston’s fabulous ‘Pride’ series.

I have to admit, I had a little trepidation going into this third book. My hesitation centred on the heroine, Sissy Mae Smith.

We met Sissy back in first book ‘The Mane Event’ when she was introduced as Bobby Ray’s little sister, and Mace’s friend. But in the second book ‘The Beast in Him’ it was also revealed that Sissy was Jessica Ann’s childhood tormentor. Sissy was a high school bully, and Jessica Ann (now...more

I wish I had time for a better review but I don´t. I´ll just say I adored this book, definitely the best in the series so far. Also I had huge expectations for it as I have been dying to read about this two characters for ever. I was never dissappointed and I enjoyed every page. Can´t wait to start the next!!!

Tomorrow I´m coming back to write a full review, but no time today. Sorry.

Shelly Laurenston will always be a legend to me. Her style of writing is perfectly matched to my personality and I would bow at her feet if i ever had the chance. In the mean time I feel the need to constuct my own little shrine to Shelly and pay homage to her daily.

The Mane Attraction was another fabulous book in the Pride Series. Sissy-Mae and Mitch are literally a laugh a minute, I read this book with a constant smile on my face and found it hard to note my favourite quotes because there seem...more

I am a "laugh out loud" book lover, and this book definitely fit the bill.

In this story we get Sissy Mae, who is bitch...well let's not mince words here...she is. But we also see that she is loyal to those who deserve it...she defends those who need it...and is not afraid to kick a lot of ass on and off the race track.

We are treated to...I wouldn't call it a romance, more like a sexy power struggle...between Sissy and Mitch.

Mitch is running from a hitman, and doesn't think he has much to offe...more

Gee, I'm really not in the mood right now so I even didn't want to write this review. But when I logged in to my Goodreads' account and saw the book's cover, I thought: "Ah, what the hell?! I can't resist Shelly Laurenston!".

This is the biggest problem and the biggest blessing - I just CAN'T RESIST HER!!! And why, oh God, why every time I write about her books I feel an overwhelming need to use CAPS LOCK?? BECAUSE SHE ROCKS MY WORLD EVERY FREAKING TIME!!

Sorry, no more Caps Lock... I will try any...more

Mitch couldn’t believe how well he’d slept. In fact, he’d come to terms with his possible death simply by realizing that for once, he’d actually get to sleep again. A real sleep. Deep and unconcerned and without worrying about everything and anything.

But he didn’t have to die to get that kind of sleep. Instead, he simply had to trust himself to Sissy. Not nearly as hard as it sounded because he knew she had his back. If she knew there was danger, she’d get him up and be ready to fight within sec

The beginning of Sissy's a Mitch's relationship is so great, their conversations are so funny and ever single place that had them in this novel was so awesome that I just laughed the whole time I was reading this. I really loved it.

Especially the way their relationship started. They were friends with mutual sexual attraction, and in the end, it started becoming something more. Really, that's the part I like most, because they got to know each other before they had sex. I know that most of these...more

Mitch is still hiding out in NY before testifying against a mob boss when the price on his head is raised and someone takes a shot at him. In order to keep him safe Sissy takes him home to Smithtown, where there are only surly wolves. Sissy gets into her old antics from childhood and drags Mitch into some of it. They have been best friends but of course with being secluded they go with their attraction to each other. Sissy doesnt have boyfriends and doesnt settle for long, and Mitch is going int...more

An amazing read, love the relationship between Mitch and Sissay. You wont regret reading this series. Mitch is my Fav in the Pride series with his sexiness!!! Love how both he and Sissay are always at each others throats one minute and the next their sucking each others face, thats right I said sucking lol. Happy reading!!!

After kind of lukewarm feelings toward the first installment in this series, I wasn't sure I wanted to continue on with these books, but I am glad I did. I found that I enjoyed this story. The things that were good in The Mane Event were good here as well: the humor and the delectable sexy times. But in this case, with a full length book I got a chance to know the characters a bit better and get more excited about their romance.

Our hero is Smitty, also known as Bobby Ray, Alpha of the New York b...more

These two have been friends for awhile but then an assassination attempt is made on Mitch and Sissy decides that she will take charge of his care and so she takes him to her home town in TN to recuperate. Together the two of them continue to get into silly situations but they also begin to realize they are attracted to each other more than they want to believe.

Sissy Mae is wild, carefree, a wolf no man will ever tie down. Mitch is a goofball lion, not that one implies the other, it's just what Mitch is. Together they are best friends who make each other laugh, but who Sissy Mae has proclaimed that she likes too much to... you know. However, when Mitch is shot by a bounty hunter after the ginormous price on his head, Sissy must take him to the one place she knows he will be safe, even if that means taking him to her home in Tennessee.

I had a love/hate relationship with Sissy May in the previous books, but here I started to like her in general. Mitch was goofy and spoiled in an endearing way in this book, though he totally got on my nerves in following books. The spoiled qualities of the lions just don't really do it for me.

I liked the humor and troubleseeking attitude of both main characters, but found the action plot lacking.

I like how Laurenston gives her characters time to get to know and appreciate each other. Even if th...more

I have been on a bit of a Shelly Laurenston marathon lately, but I hesitated before I started this one. While I do love the Lions, and I thought Mitch was a sweetheart, I was just not that much of a Sissy Mae fan. Brash, rash, and kinda trashy, I just didn't see Sissy Mae as the star of her own book. But, while I am still not Sissy's biggest fan, I did enjoy her story.

Mitchell is the Lion shifter undercover cop turning state's evidence against a mobster. Without his testimony, there is no case,...more

Can't put this series down. it.s just too funny! I know i will be rereading it one day :))

Now my favorite quote(that i actually saved ;;) )
Brendon watched his brother pet Ralph’s head. “Speaking of comfort zones…are you okay doing that?”

“Not really,” Mitch told him, his free hand still petting Ralph. “But I’m afraid if I stop, he’ll rip my leg off. I can’t remember when he last ate. Did you know that crocs only eat every three days or so?”

Shaking his head, Brendon said, “Mitchell…”

“What?”

“Okay. Let's see what we've got." He lifted up her foot and said, "Well, what we've got here is a freakin' boat."

Really?" She slammed her heel against the side of his face, snapping his head to one side. "How big are they now, Mitch?"

Rubbing the abused side of his face, "Dainty little elf feet?"

"Exactly.”
