OTAKU LOVE

The Genshiken girls have been trying to spark a little romance between Kanji and Ogiue for months–and a Genshiken trip to a hot springs resort seems like the perfect opportunity. When Ogiue falls sick, Ohno assigns Kanji to take care of her. The rest of the Genshiken gang leave for the day, and Kanji is finally ready to make his move.

Ogiue, though, is convinced t

Overall Rating: A+
Synopsis: Written by Kio Shimoku, the manga version of Genshiken is nine volumes long. It covers the lives of a college club of Otaku, but does it in a way that makes them seem real and interesting instead of the usual stereotypes.

One of the reasons I love this series so much is the remarkable number of similarities between the Genshiken club, and the club I helped found at Guilford College, the Yachting Club. Granted, we didn't really have a Saki (who hates geeks and is only i

This volume is about Ogi-san and Sasahara getting together, finally :)) There is that kind of people who can accept their lovers' true selves, like Saki-san, but I don't think Ogi-san can ever date normal guy ^^ Yes, when people actually do doujinshi on some characters, they do love them. So yes, Ogi-san does love them both, just like what actually Saki-san has thought in earlier volume :)) Oh poor Madarame-san, comparing real life with ero-game, haha XD

This volume shocked me hard. What Ogi-san'

Kio's writing truly shines in this volume. The character of Oguie, who I was less than enthralled with at first, shines in a much better light here. I still miss the old characters, but I'm sentimental that way.

Ogiue-san takes the spotlight in the penultimate volume of "Genshiken". Like volume 6, volume 8 is extremely character driven and a bit more serious in tone than average. Shimoku Kio demonstrates a keen insight into the psyche of a social outcast as she exposes Ogiue's conflicted personality and hostility stemming from self-loathing. This peculiar character also gets a rather compelling background story.

Recommends it for: ME! None of you can have it!
Kio Shimoko writes funny, low-key, utterly believable characters, his backgrounds are meticulously, ludicrously detailed. Only one more volume to go, and I will probably cry copious, manly tears when it comes out. One of my favorite comics, ever.

Recommends it for: Otaku!
Best of the lot of them! Sasahara reads Ogiue yaoi about him so she'll agree to date him. It is so cute! I loved it.
