"The Intention Experiment" gathers evidence, culled mostly from rigorous scientific studies, in support of the healing power of intention. Although the book is written for a popular audience, it includes a comprehesive bibliography and notes. If you're a nerd like me, that's a good thing. Another noteworthy thing about the book is that it inspired the movie, "What the Bleep Do We KNow."

The premise of the book is that intention not only works, but when used co More...

Follow up to "The field" by the same author, this sequel expands previous themes in relation to the supremacy of mind over matter. Recent researches are divulgated in the usual passionate if sometimes not fully accurate style - there is as expectable perhaps too much stress on how the experiments the author investigated support her point of view, which is stated immediately. Nonetheless, the books provides extensive reference to scientific papers, many ideas and speculations about para More...

Readers of this book will take from it that which they want to.

I felt it was only worthy of a 2 star rating, although I have to admit I tried repeatedly to make myself like it, because it started off on such a strong note using quantum physics to draw connections between the material world and a "spiritual realm." Soon after, I was disappointed because it seemed like the author was just picking and choosing a hodge podge of scientific experiments and citing them to support More...

I thought that McTaggart's conclusions seemed questionable despite citing numerous studies that may or may not have anything to do with her conclusions. I have no confidence in the non-scientist author's ability to drawn accurate conclusions from the studies she mentions. Some of the studies sounded scientifically reasonable but others seemed suspect. I also find the lack of graphs and charts disturbing and wonder if the scientific community sees this book as a joke despite the fact that I don More...

I've been taking classes on the laws of attraction which basic premise is that our thoughts manifest to create our life and the world. I find this fascinating because it gives me a sense of power to create what I want in my life and to be aware of how negative thoughts also create my experiences. I have always disliked the victim mentality and learning about the law of attraction seems to put the power in our own selves to take responsibility for our circumstances. This book is based on scientif More...

This is an incredibly fascinating overview of experiments studying the effects of consciousness on the environment, both internal and external, but after the first 100 pages I found myself skimming chapters, because McTaggart describes--in painstaking detail--study after study after study. Granted, this is a topic met with a great deal of skepticism, so I understand the desire to be thorough, but she had me convinced halfway through, and I found myself more interested in learning ways to apply t More...

This book describes the power of intention. The premise is that thought is a thing that can affect other things. It suggests that this power of thought is not affected by location or time. It appears to work better when their is geomagnetic turbulence. It tries to relate it to the field of quantum physics. The book discusses related experiments that have been done at universities across the world. There is even a website where you can take part in their future experiments. I have always More...

Would rather start with chapter 13 about the actual technique and practice of this experiment. Although it might be necessary, but I found the first 12 chapters too long, and rather "needy" as if to really convince the reader about the "seriousness" of the book. But I understand the source of this need and "insecurity though.

Picked up this book thanks to Dan Brown with his new novel and the news of one best friend who recently diagnosed of cancer. These two More...

A scientific approach to the power of intention. Not an easy book for me to read at times, but I got a lot out of it. I did not join "The Intention Experiment". Yes, it's an actual experiment that you can participate in if you fully understand the book! However, I have used the methods outlined in the book (in the last few chapters) with some success. I have had difficulty with meditating (one of the key recommendations) but have found that listening to Eckart Tolle, "Stillne More...

This book was right up my alley - it is a look at scientific experiments that show evidence of the interconnectedness of life/consciousness, the ability of our thoughts to influence other living beings and matter in general, and what this could mean for not only our individual lives in the future, but for all life itself... Fascinating stuff. My only complaint is a minor one - the chapters on the experiments could have been a tad less detailed, I found myself feeling bogged down a few times alon More...

I read this book as research for a college paper I was writing on positive intention and affirmations in your daily life and it's effects. This was one of the few books I could find that actually provided the scientific research as evidence. Very insightful and extremely interesting even if you're not the type to believe in this type of thought.

After reading this book, I continue to keep up with Lynne McTaggart at http://www.theintentionexperiment.com/ where she conducts web-based expe More...

This is an amazing collection of experiements in physics and quantum physics, written for the layman to understand. It is a mind expanding read, demonstrating a new perspective on the univerise in which we live. If you are interesting in the physical world and open to the possible influence new scientic discoveries can have on your spiritual and philosophical perceptions, this is a MUST READ. If you are set in your beliefs, avoid this book. It may prove damaging to your psyche.

A fascinating and well researched (and documented) book detailing hundreds of peer reviewed scientific experiments on the nature of consciousness and it's effect on physical matter. By using thoughts and intention, humans have altered particle spin, affected growth rates of bacteria, cells, and disease, changed temperature (really!), and even effected results backwards in time! Using rigorous scientific method, the latest in quantum physics, and recognized practitioners from around the globe, More...

Great book, one of my favorites. Talks about various experiments/studies done with intention and other forces. Also talks about studies that may lay a foundation for the understanding of homeopathy. There is so much cool research that has been done and this book is a great summary as is Lynne McTaggart's other book The Field (Getter than this one although this one is easier to read for the majority of people.)

This might be a bit new age for general audience. I liked it as I've been immersed in topics like this for over 30 years.

In fact I start each of the DNA Allergy Relief Treatments I do or teach others with a Healing Intention Statement that I consider an integral to the success of the treatment.

This is a great book if you're interested in the science around how our thoughts create reality. The information in this book provides an easy read on the subject of Newtonian and Quantum physics. Newtonian physics no longer holds the answers we thought it did. Great read about meditation, intention and the results on our reality.

This book is fascinating. McTaggart does a great job in building an argument for the link between mental intention and the physical world. Yet, it seems that the scale and the impact of intention can vary to the point of being too minimal to be worth the effort. This should be read as a supplement to books on creative visualization.

I have been hearing for years about using intention and manifestation to impact your life, and this was an interesting read for me. The evidence for intention was really fascinating, and at the very least, people could use this book to integrate more meditation and positive thinking in their lives.

I recommend this book to those just beginning in energy work, or those who are simply deciding whether or not they "believe in it."

Talks about actual quantum physics and experiments that have been done that show, without a doubt, the power we have in terms of mind over matter. Awesome stuff!

Great summary of scientific type of evidence (experiments judged with statistical criteria) that thought and intention can actually alter matter (physicality of water, cell activity etc).

Without claiming that this is a bible in energy communication, I recommend this book because it solidifies touchy feely stuff (e.g. Distance healing, group prayers etc).
It belongs philosophically in the quantum physics view of the world.

Though some of the scientific jargon was a little tedious to plow through, this book was fascinating. I love seeing scientific evidence of things that so often seem unexplainable. We should all be living our lives with more directed and focused positive intentions.

Truly makes you say "HMMM".... The studies that are summarized in this book stretches the mind - then you can't go back to it's original shape. I'm inspired to stick with yoga and meditation - for the soul purpose (pun intended) of increasing my grey matter. ; )

A scientific quantum physics approach to 'magical' thinking, 'the power of positive thinking', 'The Secret', 'think and grow rich', etc... We are all connected at the subatomic level and this explains why magic really does work.

While I liked reading this book and having the science behind it, it took to getting to chapter 13 to get to what I was looking for in the book. This book seems to follow along the same theme of the books I've recently read. Very heady stuff. I enjoyed it.
