When I was younger my favourite film was The Seven Faces of Dr. Lao which I came to find was based on the book The Circus of Dr. Lao written by Finney. When searching for a copy I came across The Magician Out of Manchuria and picked it up.

The story follows the not-so-adventurous adventures of a necromancer who restores life to a drowned queen. The Lustful Queen of La, to be exact (and she certainly lives up to her name). They then set out to restore her kingdom, but in reality don't seem to do a

Glad I discovered this author recently - I love his writing style and humour. This one is a bit more of a straight fantasy compared to the other ones I've read. I can imagine Tolkien fans enjoying this, although they may be disconcerted by the amount of sex in it!
