Recommends it for: Children and their parents
Great picture book about what firefighters do. It is all illustrated with dogs, which is probably a little less scary. I just think it is cute. It goes through when the bell rings for a fire, responding, investigating (looking for answers), and then working hard to prepare again. Every child should know how hard firefighters work!!

This book is a modern fantasy book. It uses dalmation dogs as firefighters to depict their day to day duties of being a firefighter. It goes into describing the safety gear they put on, how they not only put out fires but also check to see if everyone is safe, and so forth. The book is a little long so i would use it with students who are able to endure long stories. I used this book as a reference for my fire safety lesson plan and it fit it perfectly with the concepts i was teaching them.

This book is good because it displays all of the work that goes into being a firefighter besides just washing away fires: It includes a lot of cleaning up and making sure that things are safe. I did not like the illustrations for this book because it was a town full of dogs instead of people, and it was hard to tell which dog was doing what (for instance, telling a firefighter from a citizen).
