Oh my. I don't even know what to write. To Seduce a Sinner was one of the best romance books I have ever read in my entire life! It would have to rank in my top three of all-time, if not the number 1 slot, because at this time I'm hard-pressed to think of two romances that I liked better.
I can't even write a review. Maybe later, but I'm really not sure what I would write. Was just so, so fantastic.

This is the 2nd in the 4th soldiers series. This is Melisande and Jasper's story. Jasper is the clown of the four, he always has a smile or a joke. But underneath he is suffering from PTSD, just as bad as Sam did. Everybody manifest problems with it in a variety of different ways. I don't want to reveal Jasper's, but I will say I want to talk about it with some of you ladies to find out whether Hoyt actually addressed the men getting better with this condition.

I enjoyed this second book in the four soldiers series quite alot. I liked the interaction between the hero and heroine, and the acceptance they showed for one another. The hero is somewhat tortured and suffers from PTSD, but he is a good natured, loving man. The heroine is somewhat reserved due to events in her past, but she is caring and loyal. So far, I have enjoyed all of the books this author has written, and I look foward to the next.

Yummy.
Let me try to explain.
You've just finished a pretty satisfying meal at a nice restaurant and a dessert cart rolls around and there are mounds of decadent desserts and one plain chocolate mousse cake. Most people wouldn't even look twice at the chocolate mousse cake and instead go for the large syrupy cake that is currently on fire BUT that would be a mistake. That cake, though plain compared to everything else, is a melt-in-your-mouth slice of baked goodness. Neith More...

“To Seduce a Sinner” is Elizabeth Hoyt’s second historical in her ‘Legend of the Four Soldiers’ series. While it’s not necessary to read the first one to enjoy this book, I do think it would make the reading experience richer and fuller. Each of the books in this series is about (DUH) a man returning from war with physical and/or mental wounds. 3.5 - 4 stars.
After trying for so long to actually buy this book (geographical restrictions were the bane of my existence), I was so thrilled to finally be able to do so!
I enjoyed it - the storyline made it another of one of those "read in one sitting" types of books that I love so well. However, the H/h didn't make that much of an impact on me and left me feeling a tiny bit... wanting. For more characterization, for more connection - I wanted to believe that th More...

I was very much surprised by how much I enjoyed To Seduce A Sinner, by Elizabeth Hoyt. Elizabeth Hoyt is a USA Today best-selling author of historical romance. She also writes contemporary romance under the pen name, Julia Harper. This book follows her other titles: The Serpent Prince, To Taste Temptation, The Leopard Prince, and The Raven Prince, with To Beguile A Beauty coming soon. Elizabeth Hoyt resides in central Illinois with her husband, two children, and three dogs.

This novel takes too long to build up the tension between the protagonists, Melisande and Jasper. I want to care for them, but in the end, I just don't. Hoyt writes her love scenes with the usual finesse, but they just seem to cloud the unresolved issues within and between the characters, so that by the time love is declared, it all seems quite hasty and dilapidated. The attempt at a thriller is also laughable, but not all that bad.

This was in-between for me. Not bad, not great. It just fell completely flat for me. First Elizabeth Hoyt book I've read, while I ended up liking it, I struggled w/ this particular story. It took me awhile to get to even 'liking' it to be honest. I wasn't blown away and the characters took a awhile to grow on me. I was half way into the book and found myself not caring for either the hero or heroine...not a good a sign. I was told by several that this series was best read More...

Hoyt must've cared more about alliteration than accuracy, as this is not a "rake redeemed by love" romance. The hero, Vale, is not sinful beyond the human norm; rather, he seems to be a pretty decent man whose emotional troubles stem from horrific experiences during his term as a soldier -- not, thankfully, in the Napoleonic Wars, which seem to be the only historical conflict most romance writers know by name, but while fighting the French and Indians in Quebec. Convinced that he and h

So, yesterday was kind of sucktastic. It was a Monday (always bad) and the weather had turned cold. And for some reason my turtleneck collar would not stay flat (stupid, I know, but when your clothes are bugging you all day you get a little crabby).
When I got home and found my box of books I’d ordered from BAM, however, things picked up. I got Robyn Carr’s A VIRGIN RIVER CHRISTMAS, Julie Anne Long’s LIKE NO OTHER LOVER and Elizabeth Hoyt’s TO SEDUCE A SINNER. I set aside the Carr bec More...

I picked this up and was intrigued by the back cover copy before I realized it was Elizabeth Hoyt, author of three previous promising but flawed Regency historicals (The Raven Prince, the Leopard Prince, and the Serpent Prince). I thought I'd give her another try--I was in the mood for something with great sex scenes, which I recalled she could provide. I eventually got those (well, pretty much--Hoyt has decided to go all out with earthy, even crude language in her sex scenes...maybe because the

RATING: 3.5 stars.
After reading "The Agency" by Y.S. Lee, I felt like reading something historical... and romantic. So I picked up "To Seduce a Sinner" by Elizabeth Hoyt, one of my favorite authors within the genre.
And as always, Hoyt didn't disappoint.

Great fun.
I am working on a 2nd draft of a romance/horror/satire novel Nurse On Terror Island. I thought I probably should read a couple of romance novels if I am going to parody intelligently. I asked friends for recommendations and found Smart Bitches Trashy Books; a cornucopia of reviews. I read a few. Hey! I discovered I like romance. I had no idea.
I haven't connected with everything by a long shot. Some of it is just too alien. I can't get excited over "new shoes," More...

I know I'm in the minority here, but I found this underwhelming. Now, my enjoyment may have been hindered due to the fact that I read the fourth book before this one, but really my reasons for disliking it have pretty much nothing to do with that.
First, I'd like to say how much I like Melisande AND Jasper. Melissande is a nice change from all the other heroines I've read about before. I adored the fact that she went up to Jasper and just pretty much asked to be his bride. She went a More...

Oh my goodness, I enjoyed this book so much that I immediately read it again. I liked these characters and, to tell the truth, could have missed all the fairy tale and all the traitor bit and used that space for more backstory on both of them. Couple of mature, not terribly beautiful, not terribly talented or charismatic, ordinary people (although he has a title of some kind, I'm vague about those things) who come to care about one another, despite their frozen places and fears.

I like this author. And I love this book. Let me list the reasons:
The characters are normal looking...not impossibly gorgeous. And they are accepting of the fact. And the qualities they find attractive in one another have to do with personalty not just looks.
I also like the fact that the characters are damaged and hurt, hiding deep pain and bitterness. I just love the drama and hidden feelings.
I like the pace of the relationship, and that the characters are no More...

If you love romances where the ugly duckling or plain Jane gets her Prince, To Seduce a Sinner is the book for you.
Jasper Renshaw, Viscount Vale, has just been left at the altar after courting his soon to be bride for months. Jasper isn't that upset, just a little embarrassed. Things get a bit strange when a plain looking woman in a brown dress, who is a distant relative of his ex-fiancé asks for his hand in marriage. Since Jasper does need to marry, he accepts.

My confession:
I truly enjoyed this audiobook. I plan to give a detailed review as soon as I have time. I've found Elizabeth Hoyt to be my favorite "romance" author. But I admit to being embarrassed at my new found appreciation for novels I once prejudged as foolish, unintelligent nonsense. I find that after reading a dark book, the romantic getaway of an intelligent romance novel is very nice.

When I first read about Jasper, he reminded me of m favorite hero, Sebastian St. Vincent from Lisa Kleypas's "Devil In Winter", because of his humor. This is easily my favorite book in the series so far. It's far better than the first because the story about Jasper and the search for the traitor in Spinner's Falls and his love story between he and Melisande were given the right balance.
I liked both Melisande and Jasper together and as themselves. Melisande was really witty, s More...

I have been reading this series backwards starting with the last one first and working my way up. I don’t think it takes too much out of the series for reading them out of order or at least it didn’t for me.
So far anything I have read by Elizabeth Hoyt has been to my liking, she writes very compelling characters, interesting storylines and extremely sensual love scenes.

Where to begin?
Definitely connecting to the soldier bit, this series is reminding me an awful lot of A Summer to Remember by Mary Balogh. Both that novel and this series excite me in very different ways.
Melisande is probably one of my favorite heroines to date. She is in love with him from the start, but also from the start she grabs him by the horns! It was like The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever if Miranda had straddled Nigel in Chapter 2!

Even with the stories he'd heard yesterday from her aunt, he knew in the main that she would've been a quiet child. A nearly silent child. She held herself contained. What childhood had made her so determined not to be noticed? ....

To Seduce A Sinner, Book 2 in the Four Soldiers series, was much better than the 1st book. But I had to take away a couple of stars because the bottom line is, I couldn't care less about the identity of the Spinners Falls traitor. The 1st 2 books really dwelled on this aspect and since nothing was resolved, I can only assume the 3rd book will continue along the same course. *sigh*

I put off reading this book even though I really liked the first one in the series because I never end up liking the 'girl has pined away and loved the guy for years before he notices her' story. But Elizabeth Hoyt surprised me. Melisande is not a silly girl. She's also not one to express her feelings for everyone to see, including the reader. It was... refreshing not to be bombarded by all the locked up longing and 'woe is me' rambling thoughts some authors employ. Her straight forward approach
