This book is (obviously) similar to the "Atlas of Human Anatomy for the Artist" because it gives images of the skeletal structure and even muscular structure of several different animals (including: horse, dog, lion, cow and several other animals covered briefly. Anatomy structure is very important when drawing a human figure or an animal! Anytime I am drawing a certain animal I use this book as reference, even if there is not a specific animal included, this book has a good basis to start from. ...more

This book is an excellent anatomical reference for drawing animals, but there's a lot more on some animals than others.

There's a lot more information on horses than anything else, but there is still a wealth of information on dogs, lions, deer and cattle. There are also a few extra plates of housecats, bats, monkeys, rabbits and others seemingly thrown into the back as an afterthought.

Still an excellent resource.

An absolute must for anyone interested in drawing animals! Almost all other decent animal anatomy books I've seen reprint images from this volume because they are so useful and accurate, so why not get them direct from the source in this large-format, inexpensive paperback?

This is one of the best reference books for animal anatomy that I've ever seen. There are hundreds of drawings of cows, cats, horses and more. I look to this book often.
