The Virginity Club
Mandy, Kai, Debbie, and Eva have one thing they must do before graduation...win the prestigious Treemont scholarship. It's a free pass to the college of their choice. But the award has one very bizarre requirement; "Purity of soul and body."
In an effort to proclaim their "purity" to the whole school, Mandy starts the Virginity Club. The friends ag...more

The best part of the V Club is that none of the girls is exactly what you'd expect them to be. You can't truly manage to shove each one under a neat little label and have it be a perfect representation of them, ...more
I just don't agree with the author's take on virginity and sexual relationship although I understand that the setting is American so what else should I expect?
I like some of the characters though, especially Riley.

Revised review, first reviewed in 2008. Originally I gave the novel five stars but I’ve kicked down one star during my reread. Kate Brian is known mostly for her best selling series Private, as well as the spin-offs and prequels to the series, and when I was in middle and high school I owned almost every book she’d ever written. Aside from the Private series, my most read book by her was The Virginity Club.
I can’t tell you what I loved so much ...more
This book is about 4 girls who are best friends who also are competing against each other for a scholarship where you have to be the most "pure" to win. Everyone thinks that means being a virgin. Fortunately there are no invasive gyno exams here and you don't have to be gearing for a nunnery, just a purity essay, but still. How old fashioned.
The girls (who are not all virgins) create a "virginity club" ...more
Mandy, Kai, Debbie and Eva all learn about the Victoria A. Treemont Scholarship and all decide to apply. The scholarship is huge and getting accepted into their college of choice is their main goal for the year. However, the scholarship has one important requirement: “he or she must exemplify purity of soul and body.”
No one is exactly sure what “purity and soul” actually means, but mo ...more
(I'm not sure why people on here are so critical about this book. It's meant for someone who could possibly be a virgin and not middle age maidens looking to get their romantic fix on...me included.)
Such a lovely chick flick without too much focus on the romance!
4 girls are friends since forever until the oldest lady in the community dies and leaves her money as a scholarship for whoever is the purest, whatever that may mean.
So these 4 friends all deal with their own problems on the homefront and compete to receive the scholarship.
Cause for hillarious, but also quite sad moments.
4 Girl Friends + a virginity club = much stress and drama, lol.
This book probably got a raw deal with me because I read it directly after 2 other amazing books that each received 5 stars. This book is not 5 star material, but I don't think it was going for that anyway. It had some good lessons about abstine ...more
