At OptimWise, I build websites with WordPress, and currently focus on front-end development (HTML and CSS). After staring for what seemed like hours at the bookstore trying to figure out what PHP/MySQL book to buy, I found this gem. It is written in a way that is very easy to understand. The author gives you the information, then you're asked to use what you've learned to solve a problem you may encounter as a developer. The 'head first' series has a way of explaining computer language so that it does not seem so daunting. The photographs, exercises, and diagrams truly helped me grasp heavy concepts in record-breaking time. That being said, I'm only a beginner in the language. It definitely didn't hold my hand on everything (such as using the programs it told me to install in my computer) but I suppose that can be expected.
