Picked this one up today at the grocery store after reading the back of the book I was interested. Pretty dang good of I say so myself.
Bailey Wingate has scheming step-children who would rather see her dead then alive. Saying she is younger than her stepkids and have the control of their multi-million dollar trust funds she could see why. After putting up with all the poop she can handle form them for the past year, she decided to get away for herself and meet her brother and sister-in-law in ...more

For the mystery/suspense part I'd give it 5 stars but there were times I felt I was reading a survival guide and well, got a little bored. But all in all it wasn't bad and I'd recommend it to those who enjoy romantic suspense.

Wanted to try a 'romantic suspense' genre. Wasn't disappointed; a bit of survival suspense on a mountain from a plane crash, passion between the two main characters during their survival, suspense of who done it (sabotaged the plane to get at the rich womans inheritance). Easy quick read, not scary or adreanline pumping, but interesting enough to follow to the end.

A mysterious plane crash . . . a dangerous trek through the Idaho wilderness . . . a smoldering attraction . . . and a deadly game of cat and mouse. In her latest tour de force of romantic suspense, New York Times bestselling author Linda Howard blends these elements into a gripping story that will keep readers breathless–and leave them begging for more. For in Linda Howard’s world, trust can be a weapon, a kiss can be a threat, and intimacy can be deadly.

I have read most of Linda Howard’s books since the release of Mr.Perfect. I have enjoyed most of them. Open Season and Cry No More being my favorites. I pre-ordered Up Close And Dangerous, so I was really looking forward to reading it. Overall I enjoyed the book. I found the two main characters; Bailey and Cam to be fun. I laughed a few times well reading. They had tons of chemistry as well. Their love scenes could have been a little more spicy. I suppose that wasn’t realistic, being in the ...more

It's a fight for survival when Bailey Wingate and pilot Cam Justice crash his small plane in the mountains of Idaho. The plane crash and resulting struggles (wilderness first aid, building a shelter, climbing with no gear) were so good that I thought of lending this book to my pilot brother and telling him to skip the romance parts. Although it's clear that the characters are falling in love, this book is much more about their fight to stay alive. If not for the ending, I would have given this b...more

So, I think Linda Howard is one of my favorite contemporary authors, probably in the top 3. But lately, her books haven't been as great. They've been missing something...mainly the "I can't put this down" syndrome. This is probably the first contemporary novel I've read in a year. I was kind of disappointed. It was good, but it wasn't. The "mystery" was wrapped up in the last 2 pages and it was meant to be a shocker...but it really held no shock. Most of the book focuses on t...more

Bailey's husband leaves her in charge of his two adult children's trust fund on his death. Escaping from their greed and scheming, Bailey decides to take a vacation but it doesn't turn out exactly as planned...Her plane goes down in mountain wilderness and she must help herself and pilot Cam Justice survive and return to confront whoever attempted to kill her. Story was somehwat predictable but I enjoyed reading about what Bailey went through to survive. I found the story ended too soon.

boring. cheesy. howard showing off about research she did on surviving plane crashes (we've already seen it in one of her mackenzie books). the entire book seems to be about taking on and putting off the various layers of clothes they wore for warmth. inadequate character development so that one didn't care about the protagonists. though admittedly, i was surprised by the plot twist at the end.

Mystery/suspense involving survivors of a plane crash. Character development is pretty skimpy but I found Bailey and Cam likeable nonetheless. The bulk of the text is devoted to their survival strategies and I definitely learned a thing or two in case I ever find myself in such a situation. Good way to pass time but not very memorable, as other books by this author earlier in her career have been.

This was rather formulaic, but a good read nonetheless. Two virtual strangers are drawn together after their plane crashes in the wilds--oh, and it was sabotaged. Who dun it?
