Motiviskt och berättarteknisk komplicerad roman om den gåtfulla androgynen Tintomara, som spelar en så ödesdiger roll vid Gustav III:s mord. Even though I had trouble finishing this novel at all, I'm still giving it three stars because there were things I really liked. Although I'm giving it three starts my opinion of this book is definitely mixed - the first 50 pages or so consist of unbearably overdone prose, but then there is a radical shift in style and even format with the appearance of Tintomara. The author skilfully blends the political conspiracies with Tintomara's story, and is good at creating convincingly sinister characters in Magistrate Liljensparre and in Reuterholm. This is a weird old thing, but glorious anyway. Queer in several ways.
