The moment your name appear in The Wild One, I knows that you gonna steal my heart away. You got a mind full of wicked designs and I love you for being a good brother and hero in de Montforte series.
New cover for my favourite hero, Lucien

I have just finished reading Te Wicked One and it's pretty awesome. I felt the ending seemed rushed, I wish it lasted longer. I think Nerissa kind of deserves her own book, I wanted to know how their lives continued

An old historical favourite. Definitely the cream of the crop out of the quartet. I love the hero and the heroine—there is just so much heat between these two, in the banter, in their fiesty personalities, and the love scenes OMG. The ending was flamboyant and over-the-top, but it worked for me anyway. I wouldn't mind owning this eventually.

When I started The Wicked One, I was prepared for it to be my favorite. I loved Lucien in the previous books for all his bossy machinations. I was able to take him seriously (which I often have difficulty doing with the heroes of this period and their powdered hair and big shoe buckles and bright satin breeches) and he just appealed to my love of the rational and the loyal and a good sense of humor.

I was really looking forward to this book. I even found myself somewhat rushing through the previous 2 books just so I could start on this one. I already liked the hero (a lot,) much of the background for the story and pretty much all of the characters had already been introduced and developed in the the other 3 books, and the premises of the story was very intriguing to me. And you know, the beguining of the book did not disappoint. The h showed herself to be just as cunning, capable, haughty a...more
The final book in the series about the de Monteforte brothers.
We open with Lucien facing Eva down the barrel of a gun in his chambers. He has really met his match. Eva is intelligent, beautiful and dangerous. Could there be a more perfect woman for Lucien, Duke of Blackheath? Their entanglements are over possession Andrew's aphrodisiac and are delicious to read. Eva fascinates Lucien because she is dangerous and can get the better of him. She doesn't need him for anything and challenges him at e...more

Having read the first book in this series, I skipped to the final title because I was too impatient to read the intervening two titles and I really wanted to enjoy this book. Couldn't. SPOILERS: the heroine was a screechy, whiney. temper-driven shrew. The hero suddenly lost all the elements that made him interesting in the first book and turned into a wuss who messed up everything. And really - she's pulling out swords and threatening violence and mayhem all through the book? And this is suppose...more

Finally! Lucien's story. All the work and toil was worth it. Lucien and Eva are each other's perfect match. Their interactions are brimming with sexual energy.
The only issue I had with their story was Eva's capitulation. I felt her character would have held out longer. Also, why tell everyone she's leaving? I feel she would have slipped away in the night having recognized Lucien's steely resolve.
Otherwise, this was a great read. It's definitely the best of the DE MONTFORTE BROTHERS series, in my...more

I definitely enjoyed seeing Lucien finally get his comeuppance. *insert evil grin here* He was quite annoying in the previous books, and having him finally meet his match was definitely satisfying.
The book was very emotional in places. I actually teared up reading parts of it, and I never cry when reading. (Of course, my susceptibility to tears may have been, in part, caused by the fact that I had a cold, but I think I might very well have been moved even without that.)

Lucien, the Duke of Blackheath’s story starts with the ending of the third novel, THE DEFIANT ONE, but from the heroine’s point of view. And what a beginning it is! I honestly felt the anticipation written. My heart pounded as author stretched and strained the moment to a point that my heart pounded. I also worried that the author would match him with some naïve yet interesting female, but when she gave him femme fatale like Eva, I rejoiced!

The final installment in the "de Montforte" series and how fitting that it ended with the eldest of the de Montforte brothers, Lucien, duke of Blackheath, aka “The Wicked One”. While I loved each and every brother, I could hardly wait for Lucien’s happy ending. With his constant manipulating and conspiring to control his siblings’ lives in the previous books, while avoiding his own duty of finding a wife; he definitely meets his match in Eva, a flame haired beauty with a fiery temper, and contro...more
Love makes people change, which is what happened to the Hero and Heroine of this story. Was it in a good way? I'm not sure. It seemed like they both lost what was mostly attractive about each of them but in saying that, I liked the heroine more than I thought I would. The introduction of her in The Defiant One did not leave much of an impression but she wasn't as bad as I thought she was going to be.
I enjoyed the series over all.
I enjoyed the series over all.
I could not wait to get to this book in the series. With each manipulation I wanted to know more about the oldest De Montforte brother. Lucien, always scheming and plotting was finally going to get what was coming to him. I love his character because he loves his family so much but he doesn't know how to just let them live their lives. I really enjoyed this finally book in the series.
I was sad to tell the brothers goodbye, but it was a sweet sorrow.
The neg-I would have liked a few more answers, a bit more info about a few things. I would have like to have maybe given Fox and the members of the Den of Debauchery a bit more story, not just Perry.
The pos-the brothers were unforgettable. The wives loveable. The de Montforte line continues.

What an explosive finish for an outstanding series. This had it all, drama, suspense and most of all, romance. I thoroughly enjoyed The Wicked One. The passion between Lucien and Eva ignited the pages. The ending was so powerfully written that I felt as if I was right in the middle of all the action. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.
The One Series. I scarfed these down like candy. Harmon's de Montforte brothers are each delicious, and every book is better than the last. Unfortunately, most are out of print, but if you see them in the used bookstore, definitely grab a copy. Also, the last book, The Wicked One, is still available and stands alone very well.
Ms Harmon was back on form with this final book in the series. She did a great job with Lucien and Eva, both damaged individuals...and if it was a bit melodramatic in parts, I can live with it. I loved having all the brothers and their wives back in the storyline, all in all, a satisfying end to a fun series.
The story was and excellent flow from the other 3 books. The story was full of tears and many mix emotions. However, I found the end to be some how rush and I would of like to the sister to have her wedding and happy ending as well. i also would of like for the end to have included all of the family together around a dinner table.
If I could only pick two words to describe this book it would be "I cried".....or "RUN! BUY!"....or "Intense, Wonderful"....or "Favorite Couple". You get the idea. This was a re-read for me and I had forgotten some of the details over the years but as soon as I started reading, it all came gushing back full force. I remembered why it graced my Keeper Shelf. This book brought emotions out of me that came from my depths. Lucien and Eva both fight their demons before they come to find love and take...more

How did a Yankee girl who used to be a 1775-era minuteman in a Boston re-enactment group end up in ENGLAND, of all places? Well, in 1994, I met a wonderful man over the Internet. He was handsome, intelligent, all that a romantic hero should be... but there was just one little catch -- he was English, and lived 3,000 miles away! Love always wins in the end, though, and following a romantic courtshi...more
