He learns what he's missed out on, what other people are really thinking and the true nature of the universe which, it transpires, has been in the hands of entities like Truth, Reality, Destiny and others who've always been with us and yet haven't always made the best choices for humanity. By the end of the book, having learned far more about himself than he ever wanted to know, he discovers that it's usually never too late to start again.
