I wanted to love this so much. I am often enamoured of alien societies that are neither enemies nor gods (relatively speaking), and this definitely had aliens that were real people. I love their world, and would love to know more about it, and them.
But the ending was... weak. And it reflected poorly on the plot, for me. I can't explain how, exactly, it just left me flat. There was no feeling of satisfaction. (Note: I don't mean I wanted a happy ending.)
