I've had this book for nearly 20 years now. I picked it up on the free paperback exchange rack at the local library when I was in junior high, never realizing until just now that it's apparently a pretty rare book that only had one printing.

I absolutely love the writing style, the fantastic Regency-era slang ("talking slum"), and the general upbeat tone of this book. There's also a bit of a mystery, just for extra fun. I also like that it's a "clean" romance. no heaving, glistening bosoms and r

A mad romp! Don't let the cover fool you. This story is much better than you'd imagine. Ms. Garratt has an excellent grasp of the language and mores of the haut ton in Regency England. I have read this book several times. Does this site have a "re-read" shelf?
This book is the total antithesis of the Amanda Cross book I am also reading, which is a feminist, literary mystery. I like the variety.

An Adorable old regency style romance, forgot I had it on a shelf. If you can find it, its a fun read, its not rocket science, and some of the sensibilities might be a bit skewed, but its still fun.
