Detective Harry Bosch is brought back from retirement to join a cold case team. His first case is the seventeen year old murder of a teenaged girl which has yielded a DNA match.

The evidence leads Bosch through an investigation of hate crimes and police corruption, but nothing quite makes sense. Harry and his partner fight against the odds, and higher-ups rooting for their failure, to solve the case before they ruin their careers.
Connelly's latest in the Harry Bosch series is a gripping ai...more

What a nice change from the last book. I love this author and I think I’m in love with Harry Bosch. This book was signed “Harry is back on the beat and all is right in the world” by Michael Connelly when I met him at his book signing in Greensboro. Harry IS back in the Open Unsolved department. He is back with his partner Kit. Their first case is 17 years old. It’s recently been reopened because they have DNA and found a match. It doesn’t take long for Harry to get back into hi...more

This book is a very easy read. I read it in a day and a half on the bart train. It is a crime drama about a retired detective coming out of retirement onto the cold case team. He immediately gets wrapped up in a 17 year old murder case. Bosch, the main character has the typical detective character but he is likeable and you spend the time on his side. The story skims the surface of the infamous LAPD politics. Don't expect too much and you will be entertained.

I'm a newbie to the mystery/thriller genre and Michael Connelly is supposedly one of the best. I read this well-written book in one day during a weekend and besides the masterful plotting, I was particularly fascinated by the procedural details and thought process of the main character, Harry Bosch. At times, though I felt a bit manipulated (although maybe that's one of the goals of a mystery/thriller) because although the reader is privy to Harry's inner dialogue, that access is conveniently c...more

Harry Bosch #11 is another excellent addition to this wonderful series. Connelly sets this mystery in the mist of one of LA's more difficult times. With Harry's record you would think he would be the last person called upon to handle a "sensitive" crime, but with the ultimate goal being "CASE CLOSED", who better?

i have had this book for over a year and a half. ryan won it in a gift basket. i needed a book as i was running out the door and i just grabbed it. it is not a book i would have picked off the shelf but i have to say that i really liked it.
it is about a cop(harry bosch)and his partner that are working on a cold case and it is a good story. it had the "f" word in it about 7 times but other than that it was a clean book. it is a series and i liked it enough to go get another one fr...more

Chris: Wow!
What a great book. It exceeded all my expectations for a book I just snagged cold from the library. The hero, Detective Harry Bosch was quite fleshed out and it was a pleasure to get into his shoes in the LA Police Department.
Corruption from LA's past, Cold cases, fresh murder, drama, reflection, justice, this book had it all. I will certainly take a look at Michael Connelly's other books, as he has a great feel for his characters, and relates things clearly to the reade...more
