recommends it for: Christians who need some fire!
A great book to realize the power of God through typical people who are open to God's leading. The power of the Spirit in ordinary people to do extraordinary ministry for the gospel is extremely encouraging. The story of a man "untrained" by Seminary/Denominational standards plants a church in New York City - it never stops growing to this day! What is the trick? Prayer! Spirit-led prayer fuels a church to stand on the gospel in order to see lives transform from drugs, addictions,...more

recommends it for: anyone wanting a reminder of God's faithfulness to answer prayer
I read this during college, so it has been some time, but I do recall that is was helpful in motivating me to pray. It turned me into much more of a pray-er, if you will, jump-started my prayer life, and made me a forever fan of corporate prayer. I am only keeping the rating at 3 stars because I don't remember it too well and because it did lack deep theological discussion. I do suggest it, though, especially for people wanting a reminder of the importance of prayer through testimony.

This is an awesome book! I borrowed it from a dear friend and do not want to give it back! The heart of this book is that you and I will never know our potential under God until we step out and take risks on the front line of battle! He energizes us when there is an enemy to be pushed back. Jesus said "All things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." No personal or church situation is too hopeless for the all-suffcient power of the Holy Spirit! Jim Cymbala

May have begun changing my view on how "church" is supposed to be done, the power of the Holy Spirit and how oray impacts the life of a church.

One of the first books I read when I started participating in a book club - years ago! Takes faith and level of trust in God to another level. Based on a true story.

The story of the Brooklyn Tabernacle. After seeing this choir on tv for countless holiday specials, I found it interesting to read a more about the church itself. Starting from less than 2 dozen people they used prayer (and still do) as the focal point of their ministry. Amazing read!

This book is a wonderful book that enables you to take a closer look at your prayer life and will renew your spirituality. We all go through the pendulum swing and this is a great book to refresh your spirit and a renewed strength.

Helped me understand the shear power of prayer and the absolute significance of it when it comes to having God move within the Church and within myself.
