I read 2 more stories from Ramsey Campbell's Alone With the Horrors, and I didn't like either of them. I just don't like Campbell's prose. I cannot make sense of the action. It's like a poorly edited film with missing transitions and improperly framed action rendering the movement and sense of space totally broken. I can never tell where characters are in the scene or in relation to each other, and I constantly have to reread things over and over just to get a clear picture of what is happen...more

Some seriously scary short stories in here, folks. Not the kind of thing you want to be reading right before bed.

I recently found this at a bargain price and couldn't pass it up. When I was a young adult, I read a lot of horror fiction (I hate to even use this term, because much of what counts as horror fiction is complete garbage), and I thought it would be fun to refresh my memory of some of these stories.

This book was very dissapointing. I had to pull through it at times and almost gave up on it. The horror is subtle....not my kind of thing!

These stories are all pretty good and spooky. And thank god none of that mafia nonsense he's been into lately.
