I think I've always liked reading, even as a kid, but this book really set me off. I picked it up myself in a airport one summer when I was flying home from my dads in florida to my moms in california. I read right thought entire flight, through the layover in St. Louis, and I kept reading when I got home til I finished this book a day or so later. Then I bought Dean Koontz books whenver I could. To this day my Grandma still clips newspaper articles about dean koontz and sends them to me, even t...more

It only took me a couple days to read this book...not because it was so good I couldn't put it down, but because it was an easy read, and fun in its own right. It was genuinely scary, and disturbing, and a change of pace from the norm when reading Koontz. However, the book has nothing profound or important to offer...only cheap entertainment. I didn't hate it...not at all. In fact, I enjoyed it. But it's not a good book.

One of Koont's earlier works, so it's not as good as his later works. However, he does great work with what started out as a movie and makes it far more frightning than the movie ever could be. After 4 teens decide to hop off the funhouse ride and spend the night there, they realize it is a horrible mistake when something not quite human comes after them.

This was the first Dean Koontz book I read, and I was in about 7th grade. That's only funny if you know that it's about a deformed circus-freak-rapist. Nice, huh? I liked it a lot because it was something my mom never would have let me read, but it was called "Funhouse" so she never suspected a thing...

My paperback copy of this book is the original, red cover with the weird, greenish ghoul face at the bottom and the author is listed as "Owen West" before Dean Koontz quit using pseudonyms.

Junk-food horror, but hey, sometimes I'd rather eat a corn-dog than vichysoisse.

Talk about creepy. Even though this book is fiction and is therefore, not true, I still get the creeps when I think of the main character. The story is not one of Koontz's better works in terms of plot twist or suspense.

Oh Dean Koontz. If you don't like things that could really happen then you won't like these books. It's nice once in awhile to switch it up and read something totally unbelievable though. Good read.

I read this a long time ago and can't remember exactly what happens, but I do remember being at the edge of my seat and turning page after page to see what would happen. It was fun.

This is a relatively predictable early Koontz novel. I'm not saying it's bad because it isn't. It's well-written and an easy read. It's just pretty predictable.

Loved it as a kid. Scared the bejesus out of me. One of these days I'll read it again to see if it stands the test of time as well.

This book wasn't meant to be a literary classic. I believe I enjoyed it as a fifteen-year-old.

A typical Koontz book that takes place within a carnival "family".
