This is the 3rd book in the Jaz Parks series by Jennifer Rardin. So far there are 4 books in this series, with the 5th scheduled to come out Jan'09. Overall the latest I read is that there are 8 books planned for the series right now. This was another great book.

This is the third book in Jaz Parks Series and I have to say I am enjoying this series very much.
I do not think that this is my favourite book in the series so far, but it is not like I hated it. Book was funny, intriguing and mysterious. However I do find that the mystery behind the story was solved too quickly. Although there is something about this series that keeps me reading, I find it awkward. The constant flashbacks and tangents are extremely distracting, as is the vagueness of Jaz's powers which include some form of astral projection. The descriptions don't provide enough for me to properly visualize the action.
Also, the relationship between Jaz and Vayl seems based on tenuous circumstances. I don't quite understand the connection between them since Jaz seems so confused herself.

I love this series! I adore Jaz and Vayl – they’re so hot together!
Jaz is a smart, sassy, short fused, emotionally disturbed, crazy CIA agent. Vayl is a vampire who’s suffering from the loss of his children and is very pleasing to the eyes.

I think I've figured out what bothers me about this series, despite the fact that I enjoy it.
The shifts in time are awkward as hell, two thirds of the book is told in retrospect, Jaz saying 'here is where I am. This is how I got there. This is what happened before that'. That really takes away from any sense of danger or immediacy. yeah, i like bad girls who are assassins that go after those the government want taken care of. I really like how the author has added the main character's thoughts. Yes, i often feel those ways, but do we act on it or not.

Jaz has that I'll-kill-you-first-ask-questions-later mentality, that I used to love about Anita Blake. I liked this book, especially the way the author revealed the realationship between Jaz and Dave. It seemed like she dealt it out to us like a leaky faucet, on drip a time. Took a little time to get past how the main character talks in cliches but ultimately the storyline was interesting & the characters had page turning chemistry. Totally mindless entertainment but believe me when I say I burned through this series. The cliches come less and less as the characters develop throughout the series.
