Although this wasn't as thorough and as helpful as I was hoping, there was enough to glean from this book that I would recommend it to others with kids who are mildly anxious, to really phobic. Some things like belly breaths, and validating without feeding the anxiety were helpful for any parents whose kids ae sometimes worried/anxious. While the desensitization program she outlines is helpful for kids with more severe problems.
my friend amanda lent me this book, and I loved it! Many simple insights to help you understand why this is happening in your child, and how real it is to them. Love the simple truths and tips of how to cope, and how to help them cope.
For now I have to give this 3 stars. Most of the stuff in this book was common sense to me (granted I was a psych major in college). There were a couple of techniques I highlighted and hope to use, perhaps how well they work will change my rating of this book.
Gave some good ideas, but nothing earth-shattering.
