If you reach for a Tess Gerritsen novel, you know what you're going to get -- a psychological thriller cloaked in enough medical terminology to have you sounding like an ER doc, with some graphic blood-and-guts scenes thrown in for good measure. While Gerritsen's books are not for the faint of heart, they are well-plotted and well-written, with strong characters and plenty of action. Because they're all written from that recipe, they do tend to run together, and "Life Support" is anoth...more

I picked this up because I recognized the author from her book Gravity, which I read in high school and enjoyed (medical thriller in space - I would recommend for whatever your equivalent of beach reading looks like), but this one was much more sordid and not nearly as good. Just plausible enough to be creepy, but pretty short on empathetic or even likable characters and really long on gross moments. Not one I'd read again.

Read this in 3 days! The second Tess book I've read and again it's fast-paced, full og thrill and, surprisingly, not 'samey' to the other one I've read of hers. Extra bonus that it was to do with genetics and prion disease which (sadly) I'm very interested in. Excited to choose the next one!

Pretty good, although I think the author has written better, this book deals with the harvesting of glands for growth hormone.
Really strong overtones of Robin Cook, which surprised me, as usually Gerritsen does nicely with her own voice.

This is my first and probably last medical suspense book. She used alot of medical terms and then tried to explain it in layman's terms. Alot of different situations and characters all brought together in the end.

I like thrillers, and a medical one is always a plus. The subject matter is genetics and there are lots of twists and turns to keep you captivated. Great book, quick read.

This was a pretty good medical thriller; interesting plotline, well-developed characters. My first Tess Gerritsen novel. I will read her again, if given the opportunity

I liked this book because it was very suspenseful. It was easy to figure out bad guys but it was all the in-between things that kept you guessing.

As Tess Gerritsen's first novel into the foray of medical thriller, this is a compelling read to get me hooked into the genre. A must read!

It was very engrossing and kept me up a half hour late a couple nights in a row. Fairly standard murder mystery format, so few surprises.

Just good, clean, medical mystery fun. The author is an internist turned writer. See why I like her?

This was a good book. I am taking a break from Gerritson for awhile because of the intensity.
